Spotting at 8 weeks pregnant... looking for reassurance

I'm nearly 8 weeks pregnant and bleeding very lightly. I bled on and off between weeks 4 and 6, but it stopped. Today is the day my period would have been due. Does anyone have experience with these symptoms?

Apparently some bleeding around time your period would be due is quite common. I had it on one of my pregnancies at 7ish weeks and the result is snoring away next door.

Bleeding can be a bad sign but its NOT always. Even heavy bleeding may not have a bad ending. I had a massive two day bleed, much heavier than a period at 11 weeks once and am currently typing one handed whilst feeding the gorgeous month old outcome.

There's not much you can do but wait. Your doctor may refer you for an early scan but some are reluctant. Will have everything crossed all is well.

it's horribly tough I know :(

my heaviest bleed was with DS at 14 weeks, and he's now 4. But I have had MMCs with no bleeding whatsoever.

I know of quite a lot of women with the bleeding pattern you describe that have gone on to have successful pregnancies.

Do you have a local EPU you can self refer to, or a sympathetic GP or midwife if you've seen one yet? At 8 weeks a scan will tell you more.

Hi, I had spotting from week 5 right through to week 10, even a little heavy bleeding sometimes - but I am now 14+1 with a very healthy little wriggler if the two scans we've had are anything to go by!!

It is common for it to happen when your period should be due, so don't worry and just enjoy being a mama-to-be :)

Have you contacted your early pregnancy unit about

Thanks everyone. I'm trying not to worry, and a scan has shown that everything is as it should be! Just have to keep the fingers crossed I guess. This is my first time on mumsnet, but I'll certainly use it more often. Feel much happier knowing I'm not the only one! x

that's good news - try and relax and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.
