Another missed miscarriage?

Hi ladies - I had a missed miscarriage 12 weeks ago, the baby stopped developing at 9 weeks but was only picked up at the 12 week scan. Last week I took a test and discovered that I was pregnant again. BUT... I had one period since the miscarriage on the 17th July. Based on this I should be over 7 weeks pregnant but went for an early scan yesterday and they dated it at 5 weeks 3 days. All that was there was an empty sac and yolk sac. The doctor said that if I had been having regular cycles she would be doubtful that this preganancy is viable but because I just had one period post miscarriage it could be that my cycle is out and that I am only 5 weeks 3 days. Only way to tell is to go back in 2 weeks and see if there is any development. Issue is I don't feel at all pregnant. No symptoms at all and I am driving myself mad with worry. :(

Thank you TerracottaPie. The message did help. I called my doctor and explained and the receptionist suggested coming in to see them so I am going in an hour.

hi hjl1981 i had pains like this so dont worry too much i had them twice, the first time was between 8 weeks and 14 i had a scan done and baby was fine it was an ovarian cyst. then later on iv had ligament pains its a very sharp pain just above pelvis id describe it being where your ovaries are. both sharp pains were very similar try not to worry. youve seen the heart beat chill out and try to relax. i know that every niggle makes you wonder after your last m/c but stress is no good hun. try to think of the positives Smile and if your really worried speak to your midwife.

Hi guys. Thank you once again for the comments. I went to the doctor and they also told me not to worry so I am trying not to, although it feels hard to do! I think after last time I am finding it hard not to worry about each new thing. I am also symptom spotting again (are my boobs still as big, is my tummy a bit poked out?). It drives me crazy. Do a lot of people that have had a miscarriage feel like this? I hope so as I feel like I'm going sliightly bonkers. I am not sure what I'd do without things like this thread and you ladies it helps beyond what you can imagine to share how I'm feeling. I think I would be driving my husband mad if you weren't all here. Will attempt to try and relax. Thank you x

HJL glad to hear all is well. It's hard to have confidence in your body carrying a pregnancy after a m/c - especially a mmc when there's no indication something is wrong. Add lack of pregnancy symptoms into the bag & it's hard not to be anxious.

I'm in exactly the same situation: just short of 7 weeks & another week till my 1st scan. I will be gobsmacked if they find anything at all.

I have very low expectations & don't expect NOT to have a m/c. I'm not even stressing too much (well, mostly) as I know that worrying won't change things - what will be will be....

Oh lotsofcheese, I really really feel for you. I am going to keep everything crossed for you that everything is OK at the scan. I will be thinking of you. It is good in a way that you have been able to handle the feelings better than me but I know it still can't be 100% plain sailing. Sending lots of positive thoughts and wishes. It is a roller coaster hey? Xxx

Hello all. I decided in the end to go for another scan at 9 weeks 2 days. That scan we today - thankfully we saw a heartbeat and the baby had grown. But... they saw another 'sac' right next to the sac that they baby is in. The sonographer said that it looked like a second sac (ie of a baby/growth that didn't survive), however she was confused becuase it wasn't seen 2 weeks ago at the 7 week scan. She said she doesn't think that it is something to worry about but obviously (or typically for me lately) I am worrying about it. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this? All the sonographer could say was to wait until the 12 week scan and then ensure I tell the hospital and show them the pictures from this scan so that they can assess it. All I keep thinking is whether or not this is a bad sign- I am sure the heartbeat was slower than the 7 week scan and I am not feeling as tired as I was before. I'm not sure what to think. Thank you for any help or advice.HJL

Hi there, I am 9weeks today. I had som, bleeding between 5-7 weeks which tuned out to be a twin, which we lost. The sac was still there at the 7 week scan, but has pretty much disappeared by today's scan.

The only concern my consultant had was that if I felt cramping, I should let him know in case my body was trying to expel the sac and the concern would then be for the baby.

I know it's not quite the same, but my consultant was confident the sac would be absorbed, which it pretty much has been, so don't worry!

thanks for your advice. The thing that is weird is why they didn't pick it up in the orginal 7 week scan. It should have been there. I called the place that did the 7 week one to check and they looked back at the images and said that there is definitely not anything there. Then I worry that it is a haematoma which I head read can cause miscarriage... so now I am worrying (again!)
