20 weeks with no movement and no bump?

It's my 4th dc and im getting a bit concerned about having felt no movement and not having any bump at all.

I've got a scan next week, but in the mean time I'd be reassured to know that this can be normal, I keep reading that movements and showing get earlier with each pregnancy.

Did you have a dating scan at 13 weeks? And have you been to your gp since?

I had a scan at 12+6 which showed everything was looking good, and had a midwife appointment at 16 weeks, midwife managed to find the heartbeat but couldn't get it accurately, she said it may be due to the baby being to active. I told her I couldn't feel anything and she seemed surprised. Next appointment isn't until 24 weeks.

Could be just to different positioning of the placenta (and might explain why midwife had a bit of bother finding heartbeat last time). However, I think you would be justified in asking for another appointment sooner, if only to put your mind at rest.
Are you 'feeling pregnant' in other ways? boobs? sickness? etc

Musomathsci · 11/09/2012 12:32

sorry, "due to"

If you are worried, can you ring you midwife and ask to be fitted in tomorrow or thurs?,

Or go to a walk in EPU and ask for a reassurance check/ scan? (easier said than done with 3 dc's, i know).

Might be worth doing this for your peace of mind rather than sitting it out for a week worrying. Good luck

Only symptoms I have are migraines, I've not been sick at all with this pregnancy and I am still impatiently waiting for the bigger boobs to appear. I've text and called my midwife three times over the last week and she hasn't once replied. I'm not sure if we have a walk in EPU but will have a play on google and see if I can find one. I know there is an EPU at our local hospital but it's more of a argue and fight to be seen centre than a walk in centre.

I suspect at this point you would come under the antenatal ward (18 weeks +) rather than the EPU.

Could you call your local antenatal ward (number should be on the front of your notes) and explain your concerns? They might have a day assessment centre you could go to.

If you have an anterior placenta that could explain the lack of movement felt and not much bump yet (due to position of the baby with an anterior placenta) so try not to worry too much Smile

Hope you can be seen and your mind put at rest.

I had no bump at 20 weeks with my third. I could feel movements though. I think it'd be fine to call out the midwife if you're concerned, all she'd need to do is a quick listen in to put your mind at rest. I was enormous with my other 2 fwiw, ds2 just stayed much smaller throughout, was a healthy 7 pounds 5 at birth, I just had very little water.
