Help! Anyone else getting these? They come and go, get a few a day (usually at night) and they make me gasp but then go in a second.

Is it common? Is it the head? Feels like someone shoving a hot poker up fanjo (sorry TMI!) I do apparently have SPD but this feels like baby rather than pelvis if that makes sense?

I hope this isn't what contractions feel like not at all what I expected they would and OUCH!

Have MW appt tomorrow and will mention but just wondering if common/normal?

TIA :)

I get these too, think it's baby engaging and the head on the cervix. Not much fun but the few contractions I've had (very mild ones) feel nothing like this, more like period pains and pressure. Think it's very common, if not very uncomfortable

HumphreyCobbler · 11/09/2012 11:48

I got these - they are horrible but seemingly common.

newtonupontheheath · 11/09/2012 12:08

Yes most definitely getting these!

With ds, I got them more frequently the closer to the end I got!

I like to think of them as "productive" pains Grin

Last week (Wednesday) at 36 weeks, baby's bum was right up under my boob... Some of these pains on Wednesday night and mw on Thursday says head is 3/5 engaged Grin

Thanks everyone, very reassuring. And am very pleased to think head might be engaged - yey!!

Anyone else dying to go into labour a bit early? Like at 37 weeks? Will be on Sat and would love it to happen then! :)

Good luck! When do you next see the mw? This is time they start checking whether you're engaged Wink

I've been having these shooting pains 'down there' for a few days now, saw my MW yesterday and she asked if I felt heavier low down and had sharp twinges there as a result, I said yes, she had a prod and said baby's head in engaged. Glad I'm not the only one... thought I was about to do some toxic wee's or something horrid. Doesn't feel nice but its great to know it's the start of things getting a move on! xx

celebmum · 12/09/2012 09:23

Hi spice, I'm 35wk today and have been getting these too! Just randomly, no warning and then ouchie! Grin also could say that I have very mild period painy type aches that come and go.. And the occasional sharp twinge to the side (either side, like where my fallopian tubes would
be! It's a right laugh this pregnancy lark!!

Still it's a bit early for me to be wishing on labour! Blush another few weeks and I'm there tho!!! Grin

newtonupontheheath · 12/09/2012 11:19

How did you get on spice ?

Grin at hiccups in your bum!

Sure they won't be any movement this weekend but if you see a thread called "help! In labour a million miles from home!" you know who it is Wink

Spice17 · 12/09/2012 13:31

Hi all, Head is apparently 3/5 engaged, feeling hiccups in bum could be an indicator then!

Saw different MW today and had what I thought was a very frustrating appt, wouldn't have been much better with my own though to be honest!

Why do they have so little time to spend and never ask if you have any questions? I asked about a water birth, she filled in a form, ripped of a bit, put in my file, still no idea if booked in or not reading it!

Anyway, that's a whole other thread, which I might start or may just try to calm down and perhaps watch Doctor Who on demand instead! :)

Good news spice re the head... Bum hiccups can now be an indicator of head being engaged Grin

Sorry to hear about your appointment though. Can't speak from experience as mine is v open, friendly and answers any questions. I can tell that they are so busy in our area though... They run up to an hour late on appointment days! I don't mind too much though if it means people are getting their questions answered.

Can you call and get another appointment? Or have a chat over the phone? Have you done a tour of your maternity ward... They may give an idea of local process re water births.

Good shout re dr who.... It's a good one Wink

Spice17 · 12/09/2012 14:26

Have my tour of the unit in a few weeks, have almost given up with MW though. She's nice but to the point and not interested in any questions really (I should probably be more pushy though!)

Going to put Dr who on and eat a big Aero bar! :)
