What are you going to do with your dc(s) when you go into labour?!!
We are having a homebirth so not really sure what to do re: dd1, we are moving to live with dp in a few months, I won't have any friends or family near by so unsure what to do really!
One friend said if I go into labour when she doesn't have her kids (they spend a kit of time at their dads house as they are divorced ) then she will drive up and look after Dd, whine I really appreciate her offer, I can't guarantee my labour will fit In with the court order she has with her ex husband lol

Luckily we've got lots of family close by. My dad is retired so if it happens during a weekday he'll have him.
If its the evening/ weekend it'll either be my parents or FIL and his wife as they live the closest.

Our DD's are both going to my mum and dads. They only live down the road and they will be able to get them to school etc no problem.
It's pretty likely I'll be induced on or before my due date and will be in hospital for at least 24 hours after the birth. At least that means I can plan a bit more.

I'm really lucky as DM lives nearby and has said she will look after DS for at whatever time/for how ever long is needed. She looks after him one day a week anyway so he's used to spending time with her.

I'm planning a hb too and the bit I've not worked out is what to do if it all happens at night when DS has already gone to bed. I've read lots of lovely stories about older DC sleeping through it all and waking up to meet their new sibling, but just can't see it happening. This is partly due to how noisy I was last time and also because DS will sometimes sleepwalk into our bed in the middle of the night and would prob get upset if we weren't there.

Also, think I'd need DM anyway to be there to look after him in case I have to transfer in or if he does wake up. She's said she really doesn't mind staying out of the way upstairs and will even bring a flask/picnic (bless her Grin) but think I'd just feel weird knowing my mum could hear me (esp the language Blush). Just seems mean trying to move DS if he is asleep though.

Know it's a small issue compared to being worried about not having anyone to ask. I wonder if your friend might still be able to help even if she has her DC with her - could she not take DD back home/out somewhere with them if you're worried about her DC being in the house when you give birth?
