Hi, ladies, I found out on Friday evening that I am pg with my 3rd. The same night I started with d&v that I picked up from the kids. I'm now able to keep small amounts down, but been to the toilet 4 times already today (sorry tmi)
Is there anything other than trying to drink plenty I should be doing and is my baby at risk from it? Thanks

Hi, when I was pregnant with my first, at 7 weeks I picked up the worst gastro bug I have ever had in my life. I was lying on the bathroom floor shaking and shivery and had horrific vomiting and diarrhoea. it was so bad that my husband had to call NHS direct at 2am! They told him to get me paracetamol if I had a temperature and otherwise to drink plenty of fluids and that was it. Three days later I had to fly to Copenhagen with work for a very stressful week. I had to go and it totally zapped me of energy. I still wasn't really able to keep food down at that point. Any my baby was totally fine. The body is very good at protecting a pregnancy from things like this. But if you are worried you should call your doctor of NHS direct just to get proper medical advice. They might advise that you need to replace salts etc. I'm sure you'll be fine but a call might put your mind at rest. Good luck.

Thanks, think I'm starting to come out the other side. I'm just glad dp was off work for 4 days to look after the other 2. I still need to make my first gp appointment so might do it sooner rather than later

I had campylobacter from undercooked chicken at about 4-6 weeks. Was awful, lasted for well over a week, but didnt know i was pregnant.
Anyway, all if fine.
TBH i dont think that anything can pass the placenta this early, they live on the yolk sac doent they.
