Did your hubby/partner cry at the birth and if so did he cry again for DC2? This will be my first birth but DH's second... Wondering if it's as exciting/magical for fellas the second time round?

Not at the birth but the next day. It was real sobbing and took me by surprise. He told me how much he loved me and was proud of me but the labour really frightened him and to see me in such pain was very difficult. The doctor said he was like a jack in the box at the back of the bed.

Background: ds was born 10 weeks early by traction with 10 people in the room!

oh and he is not sure if he be at this one - i always said the birth was easier for me as i went into shock and really can't remember much (nothing to do with drugs as i had none) apart from a couple of funny parts!

Yes, mine did. At the moment of the birth he went ashen (got a hop when he saw the amount of blood) and then there were discreet tears as the midwife dangled DD and said 'Look! Look!' - he said he was so gobsmacked it didn't occur to him to check whether she was a boy or a girl (we hadn't known the sex).

A few days after the birth he read a letter his mother had written to him about his own birth and then there were proper sobs. He doesn't ever cry normally.
