Hello
This is my first pregnancy and I am only just 19 weeks, I would love some advice on babies movements, Over the last 3 or 4 days I have been getting strong sharp prods and pokes all over my bump, under my breasts, down by my crotch, to my side no where in particular, these pokes and prods are fairly sharp and even painful at times causing me to wince in pain. These are not the lovely fluttery bubble effects of gentle movement that I thought I would begin with (So all the books say) It just seems abit too early for such strong movement, will it get gentler? Am I just being a wush? do I need to just suck it up and relax?

Any advice would be lovely xxx

I'm 19 weeks too and my baby's movements are not especially gentle, but I only tend to feel them below my belly button. I've also been feeling them since about 12 weeks and they've gradually increased in intensity. Being kicked in the bladder isn't fun. My DH has felt them too, so it's not just in my mind!

So, not sure why you're feeling them all over the place, or why it's suddenly come on (maybe something has shifted?). But, I'm afraid to say that they don't get more gentle, they get much worse. Think of being able to see a little baby fist punching its way out of your stomach like an alien and that's what it can be like in the later stages. My first baby liked to have a party at about 3am every night and it definitely kept me awake.

Yeah, it can get really painful, especially when they do a huge stretch and you get a leg poking out one side and an arm the other.
