Are stomach cramps in second trimester normal?

I have been having mild stomach cramps today; they don't last very long are sore but not unbearable - is this normal?

There is no bleeding or anything that is making me feel really worried.

It is like a wave or pain, period type cramp though.

I've been having this (18 weeks) my MW said it was just a combination of stretching and things moving around in their and unless they are prolonged or I feel like I have to take a painkiller then just don't worry about it.

If your still worried you could always ask you MW next time you see her.

I'm 18 weeks too! I had an idea it would be down to stretching but it's not something that you really think about until it happens!

Thanks for the reply

I had regular shortish cramps when I was about 20 weeks...they came and went every 15 minutes or so, for a couple of hours, and I was told to go in to be checked, but only because they thought it might be a UTI - it wasn't. They said proper contractions are all over, the top of the bump, not just the underneath iykwim.

Anyway 3 weeks later and all is well. I think it is fairly common to get this sort of pain. Maybe it is Braxton Hicks, maybe it is wind and so on...could be a UTI though so you could ask MW to check you out for that (or go to GP).
They will likely just stick a strip in your wee.

Thanks Ed for the reassurance, I will keep an eye on it.

I am also 18 weeks and have felt the odd cramp / twinge over the last couple of days. I have also put it down to stretching and am not too worried as long as it is just occasional and there are no other symptoms.

I'm 19 weeks and I've been quite crampy today and had them on and off all the way through, although only relatively mild mostly. I figure there's quite a lot going on in there right now so it's not surprising it's a bit uncomfortable or painful sometimes.
