Compression stockings - how to keep them up?!

I'm 34 wks and my midwife had the GP prescribe compression tights because I have varicose veins on my upper thigh.

Except that the bloody things won't stay up! As soon as I move, they roll down.

How do I keep them up? They're meant to cover my thigh!!

All help gratefully received.

Sounds like they're either too big or too small. Do you have the right size?

They seem to be the right size in terms of length and compression. It's just that they don't stay up. Also, how would I know if they weren't?!! The nurse measured me quite carefully and then they were ordered. I didn't get to "try" them on.

Thanks anyway.

Is it possible to buy proper support tights for pregnancy - i.e. some that go over the bump so I don't have this annoying rolling issue?!

Are they the TED stockings? If so, I had these and they did roll down a bit, but they did stay up. I agree they may well be the wrong size if they won't stay up.

Thanks both midori1999 and lighttrain. It sounds like I need to go back to the surgery and get them to check the sizing. Such a shame. I wish I could get more use out of them. Below the knee, they are just terrific!

Ha! I just read the packaging again and saw this note: "It is recommended that the thigh high stockings are used in conjunction with suspenders". Um. I'm 34 wks pregnant. Where on earth would I get suspenders to fit at this stage?! And also, that sounds like an awful lot of faff.

Haha, no one told me about suspenders for my thigh high stockings and I was in and out of hospital with the delightful things!

I always thought they would be better in funky colours or at least black. If I have to wear them again I am going to dye them! Grin

That is funny! Well, I mentioned it to my SIL and she is bringing me a suspender belt thingy that apparently will sit under the bump. However, she also told me about a company called Pebble UK and I've ordered some proper over the bump tights with the same amount of compression as the ones the doctor gave me. Some in black!!
