Hey everyone,

I'm not pregnant but i thought it would be nice to have a conversation about finding out the gender or not :).

I found out with my first child at 21 weeks i was expecting a baby boy but he sadly died 2 weeks later. We named him Riley.

We decided to have a suprise when I got pregnant again after loosing Riley but I miscarried at 7 weeks. Next time we have decided to stick to having a surprise because we think finding out the sex last time jynxed it, it sounds silly.

I'll probably end up ripping my hair out but it will be a good experience and it will any family and friends more probably, which will be funny :D.

Any experiences? :)

I'm in the process of trying to find out (privately as out hospital won't tell you at the 20 weeks scan)...

First gender scan "We think it's a boy" but had to go back a week later to confirm.
Went back a week later "We think it's a girl" so we are going back again in a weeks time to get a final answer.

So who knows but I love seeing the baby on the screen and I'm excited to know one way or another but it has confirmed that I'm just as excited about a boy or a girl!!

Sorry to hear of your losses Riley, it's tough I had a MC and a MMC. I hope you get a BFP soon if that's what your trying for. xx

What does bfp mean?

I hope you get your answer at your next scan :)

BFP - Big Fat Positive! :D

I found out both times. I can't stand the thought of info being available about my child and me not having it! Especially this time round as I had an amnio. The sex was written down in the file - who can resist that? :o

I did one surprise and two found out.The surprise was over-rated tbh, as all I could think of was a) thank god it's all right and b) thank god that's over.

Great to know you're expecting a lovely little boy!

I am not sure about whether to find out. I have 3 boys already so tbh am expecting another boy. I'd quite like to know, but I don't think I could handle pink overdrive from Mum and MIL if it turns out to be a girl, and I certainly would end up saying something rude if someone was 'down' on a fourth boy.

Well hello there LLL - how's the bump coming along? And all the boys of course?

rileylee so sorry for your losses.

I had a surprise for our 2nd DC (had mc with the first). If I have another baby I'd like to find out I think.

There is usually a pregnancy after miscarriage thread in the pregnancy topic, it's what kept me going while I was pregnant with DD! I just tried to get through each day still pregnant but tbh I was a bag of nerves for the whole nine months.

I dont want to pry but... Has your GP referred you for tests at all, to try and find out what's happening? Could you do some research on taking 75mg aspirin a day and talk to the doctor as to whether that might be potentially useful (dependent on any other health issues/health history in your family)?

All the best to you Smile

I think taking it in turns like find out then suprise.. so on :).

Blondie, they dont do tests until your 3rd mc :/. I have swabs taken at 20/24weeks to check for infection and scans at 12/16/20/24 weeks to check my cervix. plus i get appointments with my gynacologist and get an early scan. It still doesn't reasure me though! I'm really sorry for your loss its horrible to hear about other people going through a mc :/ x
