Totally vain & pathetic, I know, but am so embarrassed by my bellybutton. How to deal with it?

Last pg, my bellybutton popped out at the end, and in the depths of winter. Phew!

This time, it's out already at only 24 weeks... and it's still summer (S. France resident, me! Grin) so it's going to be ages till I can hide it away under thick clothes! It's so embarrassing. It's like a giant third nipple!!

I feel I shouldn't care and that noone will mind, but then I catch someone looking at my belly and I feel so self-conscious. Blush

I'm thinking of sticking plasters over it, but the thought of 4months of ripping plasters off my already-tender belly, makes me re-think that option. Doubling-up clothes is another option I've tried, but that leads to overheating and embarrassing sweat-patches!!

Any words of comfort/ advice/ admonishment/etc from fellow sufferers?

Bring on Winter, I say!!

I like my popped out belly button. I think its funny. Its all quite comical, the huge round belly and boobs, but its not forever!!

Bump band?

I dreaded mine popping out but it did it slowly over weeks and in the end I don't care now.

My friend, like you, hated it though and she did the sticking plaster thing when she felt self conscious.

Dribble a bit of baby oil on it before ripping it off and that should take the worst of the sting away as it will unstick it a bit first.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 07/09/2012 13:57

I hated it when mine popped out. Not what it looked like but the feel of it rubbing on clothes made me feel really squeamish.

I used melolin dressings held on with micropore tape. No pain Smile

Paddocks1 · 07/09/2012 14:06

When does it actually pop out? or does it vary from person to person?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 07/09/2012 14:13

Mine didn't until the last few weeks. It must vary a lot.

marriednotdead · 07/09/2012 14:15

Mine didn't at all and I was very grateful! The melonin dressing sounds best.

ProudNeathGirl · 07/09/2012 14:20

Mine didn't pop out, it just kind of went flat.

blondiep14 · 07/09/2012 15:53

Mine really popped out this time and with my 1st.
With my 1st I did the plaster thing. This time I haven't - just try not to look!

sammyleh · 07/09/2012 16:09

Mine flattened out and then popped out. Hated it at first but now I cant be bothered with it and will deal with all the ugly crap going on with my body... DP still think's I'm hot so I don't care hehe. Have you ever used Daisies? They're nipple covers for when you want to go without a bra. Maybe they would be a good alternative to a plaster and a bit more flattering.

rogersmellyonthetelly · 07/09/2012 16:21

Could you try reusable nipple covers? They are designed to hide erect nipples so would prob work on belly buttons too....

homeaway · 07/09/2012 16:39

Can you wear a cotton cami underneath your top, that would not be so hot?

growyourown77 · 07/09/2012 18:31

If you use plasters, soak them off in bath/shower...
