If at 22 weeks the baby is laying across you, it will turn, won't it?

Hi just interested as DS1 wasn't ever in this position.

Went for scan this week and the baby was laying across me, head on left facing down towards the floor. I presume he will move to head down soon as DS1 was head down from very early on and didn't move?

Has anyone any experience of this please?

Thanks

My DS2 was lying transverse until around 30 weeks before turning.

Hi Jersey,

Glad you brought this up, coz I had my scan on Monday and the little one is breech. I didn't think to ask about it at the time, was overwhelmed at the prospect of having another girl!.

However, have been wandering since then. If the baby can turn so frequently between now (21 weeks) and 40 weeks why bother noting the position now?
I actually got a slip of paper saying baby was breech, not looking forward to that with my spd and spine problems.

ds was transverse, then breech for quite a while and finally went head down at 38 weeks - you've got loads of time yet!

Good luck

Thanks everyone, just had visions of c-sections which I want to avoid if at all possible.

I agree that there's still plenty of time left. I'm 39wks pregnant. The baby was breech up until around 36wks. It then turned into a crossways position. I had a week of panicking because the midwife had warned me that I might have to stay in hospital until the birth as there could be problems if my waters broke suddenly. At 39wks the baby is now head-down.

My 1st son was what they call 'transverse' for a lot of weeks in the second trim, but moved in the 3rd I think.
