Early Pregnant and palpitations

Katty31 · 06/09/2012 19:54

I am on my 3rd pregnancy.

1 ectopic, 1 m/c and I am now only 5 weeks.

Each time I have been pregnant I have had and irregular heartbeat and palpitations. Not all the time but just now and again.

Has anyone got any explanations for this????

I am seeing my consultant in 10 days and will mention it then, but I am more than sure he will say its anxiety. I am quietly nervous, which is expected, but I can put my hand on my heart and say its not due to anxiety! I am a very relaxed and chilled person.

I had palpitations when I was pg with dd. I ended up in a and e, had lots of tests, and it turned out to be my heart dealing with the extra blood volume.

It could be as simple as that, but please see your gp if you're worried.

Good luck with your pregnancy :)

Ahhh that makes sense! Thanks for putting my mind at ease.

Completely normal.

In early pg, blood pressure drops which Can make you feel light headed and palpitations. I've had this in all pregnancies.

Put your feet up, literally, so they are above your hips. Eat and drink little and often to help your blood sugar levels stay level, and rest. All should help with low blood pressure. And take a little extra time to do things, don't rush.

Best wishes for your pregnancy.

My GP told me it was just because of extra blood volume xx

zigwig · 06/09/2012 21:56

I had them early on too but they've stopped now. I thought it might be to do with the extra blood so it's reassuring the doctor told you that wkmmum.

I had this with DD, I heard it was due to high progesterone but increased blood volume makes sense. Quite normal anyway.

BTW, we're in exactly the same boat, mine was 1 MMC, 1 EP and now I'm 5 wks pg too! Hope that this one is lucky for the both of us Smile

Thank you all, I have done a bit more digging on this and it seems the general consensus.

Ah tasmaniandevilchase, I have everything crossed for us both. Lets hope 3rd time lucky!!! Will have a scan at 6 weeks so hopefully my mind will be put at ease a little more.

hi katty, yes all fingers and toes crossed for you, I got great news today at the scan, bean is in the right place. I am so so relieved. I have another scan at 7 wks to hopefully see a heartbeat.

Hope that you get good news next week. There's an ectopic support thread in mc and pg loss, come over and join us if you like. There's a variety of ladies there, TTC, newly pg and a few further along in their pg. You're v welcome!

I had this early on and my midwife said the same as others have said; its due to the extra blood volume - she said there was only cause to worry if it was accompanied by pain, going hot & cold or dizziness. I used to get it just as I was waking up and it scared me quite a bit but it went away as soon as it started.

The very best of luck with your pregnancy :)

Hiya, I get palpitations when I'm
Not pregnant and when I'm pregnant. During my c section with my 1st I had an SVT so I'm nervous about this happening again or during pregnancy.
