I'm being scanned a lot at the moment and have had a couple of sonographers a couple of times.
There is one in particular who has a terrible manner, gives no information other than negatives, baby is small which she says straight off - we know this, it's why I'm having frequent scans, when we ask questions about eg fluid levels, weight of baby she says 'wait & discuss with consultant' so she's happy to comment on some aspects but not all. she also only ever measures anything once & makes us feel that there's something more pressing she should be doing, last time she said, 'ill leave it there as its nearly 11.00 which is my break time'. There's usually a wait of 1-1.5 hours from scan to consultant review so we're left with any negative comments spinning round in our heads whilst waiting on reassurance, which we always get.
Having been down this route in my first pregnancy I'm very well aware of how these measurements can determine whether I'm going to have to deliver early or the method of delivery.
The other sonographers are all lovely, they take their time and measure everything at least twice, take their time to tell us what we're looking at and what they're looking for.
So with all of this in mind, I've got another scan later this week at which point I'll be 36 weeks and the results of which are likely to determine whether I'll have to deliver early, am I within my rights to call ahead to the hospital to request that I am not scanned by this particular sonographer? I know it's only a 5 minute scan but this is about the well being of my child and I just don't feel comfortable in her presence. I don't want to make a complaint, I just don't want to be scanned by her.
Any thoughts?
