Hi out there.

I was hoping someone out there may be able to give me some advice/ reassurance

I came off birth control over a month ago in an attempt to TTC. Two weeks or so ago I got my period as expected, I did a first response pregnancy test a few days before hand which was negative.

Two weeks later (last wednesday) during the time I was monitoring my self for ovulation I woke to find I was bleeding a little and it was quite red. It was not excessive and made a little mark on my sanitary towel that day. This soon turned to what I would call very light spotting and has been that way ever since.

Last Saturday I don't know why but I did a pregnancy test. To my suprise it came up positive, so I did another and the same result.Could a pregnancy show up this early if period was only two weeks previous?

On Sunday worried and unable to work out what is going on I went to A&E where I was tested again for a positive result. They were unable to say what is going on and I must wait for a scan in 3 weeks.

What do you think this can mean? Am I having an early misscarriage or am I pregnant? Feel quite sad. To top it all, think I will have to tell my work tomorrow when I would much rather keep this private as am due to fly to several countries for business next week and don't think I should be flying.

Any comments ideas gratefully appreciated xx

Hi, it is quite possible to have a period and still be pg. It's also possible (quite common in fact) to have light bleeding in early pg and go on to have a full pregnancy. Or it could be an early miscarriage... It's really hard to say more at this stage tbh, sorry, I know it's hard not knowing. It's good that you are getting a scan as that will tell you more, but shame you have to wait so long (mind you if it was earlier they wouldn't be able to see much). If you have any pain, do make sure you get a scan ASAP in case of ectopic (though that's rare).

re work - if I were you I would tell a half truth, say you have a medical issue that means you shouldn't fly - I wouldn't mention pregnancy personally.

best of luck

It's impossible to say without a scan, but I had a lot of early bleeding, and my pregnancy was viable. I also had a negative test, when I was actually pregnant.

I went for a private viability scan as my GP told me to sit at home and wait, and I was worried about ectopic.

I found out I was pregnant very early, I was only about 2/3 weeks. Then at 5 weeks while traveling down south I discovered (in a service station toilet) I was bleeding!! It was so upset and went straight to the nearest hospital, they did a pregnancy test that came up positive and I had a internal examination. The doctor was amazing and told me all looked normal. To reassure me he tried a early scan that unfortunately showed nothing, not very reassuring! Confused

Anyway long story short my 7 month old beautiful baby boy is right now having a ball in nursery!!! All was fine and the pregnancy went beautifully! Apart from developing preeclampsia and delivering 5 weeks early, but it's a family condition and we expected that!! Nothing to do with the early bleed.

I wish you all the luck and love! Try and not stress too much and enjoy every second of your pregnancy!! Smile

Thank you for your answers ladies, they are much appreciated. Guess there is nothing to do but wait and see. Fingers crossed :) xx
