So there I was with my usual hairdresser, my first cut in, well, it was well overdue. At the salon they give a complimentary head&shoulder massage. He told me to close my eyes, relax&breath in... I totally freaked out jumped up in my chair& shrieked "I'm pregnant!" he nearly crapped his pants.

Was I right? They use essential oils for massage and I know some of them are dangerous in pregnancy. He wasn't sure so we decided against it but i think the poor sod was totally on edge afterwards. I have had a massage when pregnant a few weeks back&they used tangerine oil as that's ok.

What do you reckon? Next time can I have the massage?

Did he think the baby was his?

As far as I know, it's only a couple (like Clary Sage) you actually need to avoid. And even then, the liklihood of a problem from a tiny drop in a scalp massage is so teeny tiny as to be not worth stress.

Fine to tell him, but I would have lain back and relaxed personally!

:o at 'did he think the baby was his?'

Yeah you're right (my Aunty is an aromatherapist) there are some you shouldn't use in the first trimester especially (they're probably ok after 14 weeks) I can't remember off the top of my head, although Clary Sage is def one. Next time he could just just the base oil and no essential oils. Thats what I've done and I see my Aunty weekly :)

I think juniper oil is very harmful so you did right to tell him!

I was at work and a very strange smell came through the air conditioning. There was a word of mouth message sent around, oh ho ho ho the cleaners put bleach instead of [something else] into the air conditioning system. Everybody else sat at their desk gasping, eyes watering. I was the only one who had the guts to get up and walk out. Well, I didn't really have 'the guts' as I was scared I'd look like I just wanted time off. But pregnancy makes you unable to take a risk.
