I'm going for a viability scan later, I'm 6+5 and I'm terrified there will not be a heartbeat. The only sympton I have is very large sore boobs, can they stay like this even if the pregnancy has gone? I'm so scared

Why so scared - have you had MCs before?
I had my first scan (viability) at 6+4 this time around and was so relieved to see/hear the heartbeat so I have a lot of sympathy with your feelings - the sore boobs are probably a good sign though, in the 3 MCs I had one of the first signs of something being wrong was the reduction in boob soreness (but that doesn't mean it's a given, just that's what happened with me)

Good luck with the scan later today.

Everything will be fine Smile try not to worry!

I felt just as you did when I went for my viability scan at 7 weeks. My only symptom at that point was sore boobs until the morning sickness kicked in a few days later

They will tell you within about 30 seconds that they see a heartbeat. I'm sure it'll all be fine, but it's hard to not feel nervous until after its done! Are you going alone or with DP/support person?

It's very natural to worry during pregnancy. You don't have to have symptoms to be pregnant.

First scan is always scary, just relax as much as you can and try to remember that pregnancy just happens. Your body is in charge of this, not your head. Good luckWink

You will be fine. But as you are so early, they may not be able to pick up a heartbeat yet - they couldn't find mine until I was almost 8 weeks.

Be positive :)

Well I hope that it all goes well. Do you know if they're doing the internal scan as well as the external? That might be necessary to pick up the heartbeat.

Everything crossed for you then!

Laura1037 · 01/09/2012 11:05

The woman on the phone said to go with a full bladder cause they always try over the belly first but if necessary they will do an internal after. Thanks for the support it really is invaluable xxx

I had the internal as well at my 6+4w scan - can't honestly remember now which part of the scan brought up the heartbeat! But it was good to hear. :)

WipsGlitter · 01/09/2012 11:08

At my viability scan they didn't find a heartbeat, they said it was too early. It all was fine but please don't think the lack if a heartbeat means the worst.

YIPEEEE!! Saw the heartbeat! I'm so relived and I know I have a way to go to 12 weeks but I feel so much more chilled now! Thanks for all the support ladies, just knowing you are all out there rooting for me meant a lot xxx

Congratulations! Seeing a heartbeat is one of my best memories.

Zara1984 · 01/09/2012 15:38

Congrats!!!!! Isn't the sight/sound of the baby's heartbeat the most amazing thing ever??? So pleased for you :)

I went by myself to my viability scan as DH was overseas (and no family nearby), I was so so scared. I started blubbing to the sonographer when I got in the room, and when she picked up the heartbeat. So glad your friend could come with you :)

12 weeks will be here in no time! It feels like forever right now, I know. But it starts to go really fast - somehow I'm at 32 weeks now, feels like yesterday I was at that viability scan!!

Take some pics/scans of the picture if they gave you one and email it to your DH if he's got a smartphone. And have a BIG SLICE OF CAKE. :)
