31+2 strong pains freaking out

This is dc3. My back has been killing me all day, came to bed early with 2 paracetamol. I've had 3 intense contraction type pains in the last 20/25 mins. After each pain the baby moves a lot. Surely this isn't the start of anything??? Should I ring the labour ward?

Yes, because of your dates. I would get their advice and they may say go in to have a trace done. If they think you are starting proper contractions they may well give you drugs to stop labour, so you should definitely seek review early. I'm a GP with a special interest in Obstetrics and if you were my patient I'd advise attending the antenatal ward for a check. Hope all is okay x

Yes call them to be safe!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 31/08/2012 08:53

How are you this morning, OP?

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 31/08/2012 08:59

A bit anxious to be honest. Had no more pains last night and there was no replies on here so I went to sleep. I haven't had any movement this morning though. I'm here drinking iced water trying not to let my mind run away on me

How are you doing OP?

CaptainHetty · 31/08/2012 18:08

If you're at all worried about a change in baby's movements get yourself to the hospital and let them check you over, lovely. They'll be glad you went to them to get it checked and you'll worry yourself sick drinking water and waiting for movement.

Hope you're ok :)

Thanks for the concern Smile

At about 11 this morning I decided enough was enough and went to the day unit. As soon as I sat down for the trace baby woke up and was the most active baby for the 30 min trace Grin

Midwives were so nice and supportive and said to never sit at home worrying Smile
