This is a really weird question with TMI but...

this afternoon I had loose bowels and I feel like I'm so empty now. I've been so lucky and had normal bowel movements throughout the pregnancy so I know I wasn't constipated before hand and I just don't know why I feel so light now.

Also for the past few weeks the pressure of the baby on my pelvis and ribs has been really strong. I've been really breathless and sluggish, but following going to the loo I feel like the baby isn't kicking as hard and I feel like I have so much energy. Energy isn't something that I've had from the beginning , so it feels really really odd. I haven't feel the kicks so much today but occasionally I'll feel a funny pulsating type feeling at the bottom of my back and I don't really know if that counts as 'baby movements'.

I'm only 33+5 and I know that the 'nesting' feeling and loose stools are a sign of everything starting. I just don't know whether I should chill out and stop worrying or talk to a midwife because the movements have changed so dramatically?

I know there are so many vague symptoms there, but I literally feel empty like I haven't got a baby in there at all

If movements are drastically reduced, call the MW. If you have a gut feeling all is not right, better safe than sorry. Better to be monitored and have the baby suddenly start battering you than to miss anything that might be awry.

rang mw. she said to drink a pint of icey water. tried telling her that i'd been eating ice all afternoon but she wants me to ring her back later

Can't you just go straight to hospital? I was given directions to where to go if I had any problem with the baby (within the maternity union) - you don't need a midwife or a referral, just to show up.

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 30/08/2012 18:28

I'd ring back and tell them you aren't happy and want to come in

amybelle1990 · 30/08/2012 18:36

I've had two really slow movements since drinking all that ice. Will leave it half an hour then just go in :S

Sounds like the baby has 'dropped'. It makes yOu feel able to breath again.

theverysuccessfulone · 30/08/2012 18:43

If the movements are different from what they use to be, I'd definitely go!

When you get there, say the baby hasn't moved for hours and hours. Some people here in MN suggest you exaggerate the symptoms to get seen and examined properly.

amybelle1990 · 30/08/2012 18:49

Yeah. I'm off now. Wish me luck :S

Thanks for the support guys. Sorry for not updating sooner. Checked out and baby appears to be healthy but they want to do a scan on Monday just to double check.

Glad to hear Smile let us know how you get on on Monday

schroedingersdodo · 31/08/2012 23:17

That's great. Good that the baby is fine and also that they're keeping an eye on everything.

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 03/09/2012 13:21

Hi Amy what time is your scan? Good luck Smile

amybelle1990 · 03/09/2012 14:12

Hallo,

Another two hours yet. Been getting plenty off movements. I've been doing some research on baby 'dropping' and a lot of the symptoms seem to match up, but whatever happened on friday was bloody sudden and very scary.

I don't know whether to mention that I've only put on 3/4 of a stone since getting pregnant cos of hyperemesis :S No one's weighed me in months in the hospital or GP :S

Can't do any harm to mention it can it? Have they been measuring your bump? Are you following a centile?

amybelle1990 · 03/09/2012 14:30

The bump is apparently the right height but I don't know the details about what it is and what it's supposed to be nor do I know what my weight is 'supposed' to be. I might as well ask- they won't chuck me out for asking :P

Let us know how you get on Smile

amybelle1990 · 04/09/2012 13:41

Hello,

Sorry for the delay- SPD and tiredness caught up with me. Everything's fine. Apparently my placenta is anterior and makes it a bit harder to feel the baby in certain positions. Baby was bang on all the growth targets and heart rate was beautiful. :) They said that the head was definitely down but they can't really tell if the baby has dropped or not.

First antenatal class tomorrow so I might be able to compare bumps and experiences with some of the other ladies. Thanks for your help- my first freak out in the pregnancy!
