Can anyone recommend somewhere for a private scan in the Manchester area?

My last pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage, only discovered at my dating scan. I'm now 6 weeks pregnant again and had an early scan yesterday, but as everything was fine my health authority won't now give me any more early scans - and I'm not prepared to wait until 13 weeks again to know everything is fine...so I want to book somewhere for a private scan at the 10 week mark, just for reassurance. I'm in Manchester and google is showing so many options I don't know where to start! Has anyone had a private scan at a facility they'd recommend? Thanks!

I was in a very similar situation to you - MMC discovered at 12 week scan in 1st pregnancy and didn't feel I could wait until 12 weeks second time round.

I went to Babybond, which is based in Stretford. The website is ultrasound-direct.com

It was £99 for a viability scan. People were lovely, nice and quick (but not rushed) and if you have a full bladder they should be able to do it abdominally rather than up the va-jay-jay!

They do weekends too, if that is useful for you.

I'm not in your area but I've used Babybond (scotland) and they were great, going back on Saturday to have a gender scan.

I know exactly how you feel after a MC and MMC I wanted a scan around the 10 week time frame just for peace of mind. It was great and by ten weeks the baby really looked like a baby and was wiggling all over the place.

Let us know which you pick! :D

We had a 4d scan with DD1 at Baby Premier in Altrincham (Stretford side) and were so impressed we went back there for DD2's 4d scan. Not sure what the price of a reassurance scan is, there's an advice and information telephone number on the website.

In the meantime, if you have any pain or bleeding, the Emergency Gynae Unit at St Mary's Hospital is great. They work like an A&E and have three times over two pregnancies assessed me, scanned me and gave me a consultation with a doctor about my pain and bleeding in early pregnancy in under four hours. If you need them they're located immediately to your right as you go in St Mary's main entrance. No need to call in advance or book an appointment, although I'm not sure if they're open 24 hours / 7 days a week.

I hope all goes well for you.

I second St Mary's. Had my IVF at St Mary's and every single member of staff I met were exceptional. Used the EPU at 6 weeks and were very supportive! Was discharged after 8 wk viability to go back to my local trust but was told to contact st Mary's if ANY problems/questions along the way. Can't thank gem enough. x

I had the nucal fold scan and combined test at Baby Premier in Altrincham a couple of years ago. They were lovely. The sonographer is someone I have since seen at a routine scan at my local maternity hospital but she had so much more time to to talk to us and show us our little bean at the private scan.

I've also heard really good things from a friend about the Bridgewater Hospital on Princess Parkway close to the city centre if that is more convenient for you.

We paid £95 for a private scan at Bridgewater hospital on princess parkway when I was 7+3. It was great-everyone was lovely, plenty of time to chat and ask questions etc. You lie in a comfy chair thing and look up at a big monitor so you get to see everything very clearly. Got loads of pics of a small unidentifiable blob was very reassuring.

We went to Baby Premier in Altrincham too, they were goodand would recommend them...

Thanks all for your help. Baby Premier have closed all their clinics in the North, so I've booked Babybond. Fingers crossed we see a jumping bean!
