Help, is that my baby moving?

Just wanted some advice, I'm 18+6 and hadn't felt any baby movements yet. Tonight I'm lying in bed and felt 4-5 funny movements quite low in my bump. It feels similar to when you get a twitch in a muscle but I could feel it inside and out. Is this my baby kicking? Or is it a twitch?

Sounds like baby!

Congratulations! Feels so strange doesn't it?

Sounds like baby movements to me too!

Sounds like it! I used to think it was like lemonade in my veins.

Ohh I'm really excited! Does feel a bit strange though! Is there anything I can do to make baby kick more? Thankyou for your speedy replies xxx

I would say so too - I am nearly 20 weeks and have felt definite movements for some time. Sometimes the moves are like little muscle twitches and are pretty low down.

And definitely easier to feel the movement when you are lying down in bed or parked up on sofa!

Drink ice water, that can help to get them wiggling. And have a sit down and a feel about half an hour/ an hour after eating.

My baby moves if I poke it just above my pubic line. Only do it if no movements for a while though, and then feel bad for waking it up.

Clarella · 28/08/2012 22:44

Yes! I didn't get the 'bubbles' feeling till later, it was exactly like a muscle twitch or being flicked from the inside. Congrats! It slowly and erratically changed over the next few weeks to bubbling (very big bubbles!) and now wiggling, squirming and thumps but there were quiet times for a few days inbetween, so don't worry if you don't feel it again for a few days as they can be in a position where you just don't feel it :)

I say it's baby. I started feeling things at about 19 weeks and they were exactly like you describe - like muscle twitches or palpitations!

ZuleikaD · 29/08/2012 08:55

Yup, sounds like baby! IME they wake up just as you're going to sleep (your constant movement lulls them to sleep, one reason slings are so effective when they're born) so try lying down for half an hour.

BabylonPI · 29/08/2012 08:57

Aw yes, sounds for sure like your baby Grin

Congrats OP! Smile
I'm 23+3 and I remember those early twitches. Now my LO can't stop wriggling and tumbling. Really loving being pregnant!

I think it definately baby as it's been doing it today too. So reassuring to feel it now. Grin
