Hi,

My DH works away from home in the week and it can take him 3-4 hours to get home so what I need to know from you ladies is the earliest possible signs of labour so I can phone him and get him home?!?!? I'm only 35+2 but starting to worry he won't get back in time.

Thanks!!!

For me with DS1 it was my waters breaking with a huge swoosh all over the bedroom floor as I was drying my hair. Actual contractions started 3 hours later and DS arrived 9 hours after that.

With DS2 I thought I needed a poo which wouldn't come out. Sat on the loo for ages willing this poo to shift. It was DS2s head, but I didn't know that. Blush. He was born an hour later.

sorry I was having contractions 5 minutes apart when I woke up at 2am. Had a normal evening the night before. But the average labour is 16 hours long I think so there will be plenty of time and I think you will know when you are in labour.

With 4 of mine it started with "braxton hicks" that then gradually grew stronger! First labour was 10 hours.

With number 5 it started with a show when I woke up, then contractions started about an hour later.

First babies usually leave you plenty of time so fingers crossed your DH will make it without any problems Smile

Good luck with everything!

I started getting strong Braxton Hicks with DD on Tuesday and then strong contractions on and off until Friday. DD was finally born at 6.30 on Saturday morning. DS didn't start to shift himself until two sweeps by the midwife and even then it took 12 hours. Some first labours are very quick but you are likely to have plenty of time.

Very hard contractions was the first sign, baby was born about two hours later.

For me I had contractions start 10 minutes apart and a my hind waters went. I had loads of time from there, 68 hours in fact! DP even ended up going into work at one point as it was taking so long as he reckoned he had plenty of time. He was right, but I wasn't best pleased!

Mine was a terrible stitch when walking back from the shops, then contractions started. My waters didn't break nor did I have a show and DS was born 4 hours later
