Maternity Jeans - Recommendations?

mountainlover · 28/08/2012 12:30

Can anyone recommend some slim fit or skinny maternity jeans with overbump panel? Preferably relatively dark wash so I can wear to work / out as well as casually. I can only find skinny underbump or boot cut overbump.

I find the underbump ones dig in uncomfortably when I sit down (as do some overbump ones, at the seam where the stretchy bit meets the denim... Grrr. But overall last time I was pregnant found them a better bet). Wiling to spend a bit for a good pair as I'll live in them.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Mine are from New Look - they have over and under bump varieties...
Good luck Smile

I have fabby ones from topshop, skinny baxter maternity jeans with a stretchy overbump panel.

Love them :)

Bought them in 3 colours and literally live in them when I'm not at work. Don't feel frumpy in them or anything and get compliments all the time :)

I tried Top Shop but they were either too short or too long. In the end I got 2 pairs of these - one in dark blue and one in bottle green. So comfy, don't need constant hitching up and don't go all baggy after just one wear.

AC786 · 28/08/2012 17:59

H and M do over the bump ones!!!

SweetPea3 · 28/08/2012 18:40

I love the TopShop ones, but got the Leigh style as Baxter were terrible on me!

Queenofsiburbia · 28/08/2012 18:48

Avoid Gap jeans. I took them back as the over the bump bit was so loose and thin, & the jeans part so low that they fell down terribly. I do have a bump so it's not that I wasn't ready for them!

So I'm also looking for a good over bump pair now!

For under bump I have seraphine which are ok-ish but the elastic folds every time I sit down which makes car journeys hard, and also their denim quality is pretty thin & average, & certainly no better than the new look pair I found (where the elastic doesn't fold down somehow).

Second the h and M one's, mine are fab. They don't lose their shape either after a couple ten days of wearing them. Plus they have belt hoops so you do't have to hoist them up constantly like the others I have.

I'll find you a link

FatimaLovesBread · 28/08/2012 19:18

here I have them in dark denim blue and can be smart or casual, they're straight leg rather than skinny

Hey,

I'm all for the New Look ones?

Has anyone else had trouble getting Maternity wear in stores. Most stores seem to say 'We have a good selection online...' I don't really want to order stuff online as I have enough trouble getting clothes to fit right when not pregnant (trousers always too long, shirts always gape) let alone trying to kit myself and bump out!

p.s sorry to gatecrash thread.

I haven't found any to beat the H&M ones yet.

popsnsqeeze · 28/08/2012 20:17

Another vote for New Look. I had 2 pairs, one under the bump and one over. I preferred the under bump ones as I hated any pressure on my bump! They were great.

ALittleBitOfMagic · 28/08/2012 20:17

H and M
H and M
H and M

Cannot recommend them enough !! Smile

FatimaLovesBread · 28/08/2012 20:19

Kafri I find bigger stores have more than smaller ones. H&M seem to have a descent range in most stores. New look i've only seen in the bigger stores.
Topshop tends to be in bigger ones. Next again in bigger ones but only every since one rack consisting of jeans, top, work trousers, work shirt and thats about it.

If you're ooop north I can recommend stores?

A few shops, including topshop and next, let you get it delivered to store for free so you can try. Or somewhere like ASOS are good with returns so you could order various sizes and send back for free?

Kafri · 28/08/2012 20:25

Thanks for the reply, I am up north - Preston way. Next were one of the ones who told me online. A friend advised Asda so i tried there. they had a small amount but told me the rest was online. New Look on a local retail park have a decent selection and was thinking of heading across to the trafford centre to try their H&M - im going to the baby show on Friday anyway which is over by trafford centre so easy to pop in afterwards.

How are the h and m ones for size?

DamePhilippaTalbot · 28/08/2012 20:26

Try Formes? I bought mine second hand from ebay and loved them.

FatimaLovesBread · 28/08/2012 20:30

The Trafford centre has maternity sections in H&M, Topshop, Debenhams and I think New Look off the top of my head. Oh and check out Dorothy Perkins, they might have too.

Sassee I'm a 10 and i've gone for a 12 in them. I found them a bit smaller than some. The Jasper Conran hand me downs I have are an 8!! But go really baggy.

PeshwariNaan · 29/08/2012 08:39

NOT Seraphine - their under bump jeans are ridiculous fall down-y. And I'm wearing what's my smaller size. The overbump ones might be OK, but they're so expensive anyway.

NattyCraig · 29/08/2012 10:54

Oh no not Baxter style, mine are Leigh too :) they're brilliant, I want to wear them forever :)

EightiesChick · 29/08/2012 10:57

Go and look now at what's in stores because M&S (as one example) clear out maternity stuff to make room for party dresses etc in the Xmas run up. Clearly no one is ever pregnant in November or December! Hmm

GingerDoodle · 29/08/2012 11:53

Mamas and Papas for me!

Senz1980 · 30/08/2012 08:58

I got my over bump straight leg jeans from Next - but I took a chance and ordered several sizes online then sent back the ones that didn't fit.

Verbaudet also have some nice jeans online but can be a little pricey.

I've struggled to find maternity wear anywhere - all the shops around here all seem to be cutting down their range (started at the beginning of my pregnancy and seems to be carrying on), so I found the easiest way has been to order online.

mountainlover · 05/09/2012 18:53

Thanks everyone, much appreciated. Sorry to take forever to acknowledge all the replies - the last week has been crazy busy.

It's got to the point where I have almost nothing that fits me now, so I'm going to get online tonight and order a bunch of stuff - hopefully some of it will fit! :-)

Jojo maman bebe have amazing over the bump maternity jeans

Optimism · 05/09/2012 22:58

Has anyone tried Mama Jeanius?

They look/sound really good but I don't know anyone who's actually tried them. Any reviews? Would love to find a pair of maternity trousers/jeans of any sort that I do not have to keep pulling up every five minutes.
