Hi

Just wondered how far gone you are and how much weight you've gained?

I'm 25 weeks and have already gained 1st and 3lbs which I'm worried is absolutely loads... I really want to avoid gaining stones and stones as I have a bad back which will only become worse and in the past have struggled with my weight. The problem is I seem to have an insatiable appetite at the moment.

I'm 28 weeks and have gained 8ish kilos I've been sat on my arse for 5 weeks as I'm a teacher I've just been eating what I usually eat and ignoring the advice about extra calories in 3rd trimester.

Aworryingtrend · 28/08/2012 11:29

33 weeks and gained exactly 2 stone, sob. Not too sure where though apart from bump as still wearing size 14 (non maternity) pants and leggings!

VegemiteSandwich · 28/08/2012 11:34

I'm 24 weeks and have put on about the same as you. Having lost a lot of weight over the last year I was quite despondent about how much I'm stacking on. But I've been feeling really really rotten and my whole eat well/maintain exercise plans went out the window long ago.

I do find, though, that I put it on in spurts. I put on about ten pounds in a very short period of time in mid-first trimester, then nothing until about a few weeks ago when I had another sudden weight gain.

32 weeks with DC2 and gained 11lb. I lost weight in pregnancy with DC1 so this is an improvement. I haven't had hyperemesis or actually had any problems at all; I just don't seem to gain weight in pregnancy Confused

30 weeks. Started at 67kg, was apparently 76kg at 28 weeks. Trying not to think about it and refusing to go near scales except when the midwives make me...

ivanapoo · 28/08/2012 15:44

Yes vegemite same here, I went swimming for a bit but now can't do breaststroke as I get back pain and just don't enjoy doing lengths of crawl as much. Also gave developed a super sweet tooth which I would be able to control did I not work in an office where I am constantly offered biscuits and cakes every day. I've put on 5lbs in last 2 weeks which is what has freaked me out (don't weigh myself v often, usually only once every couple of months).

I've started doing aquafit which I quite like actually! Even if it is a bit embarrassing ... But it still doesn't burn nearly as much energy as doing body attack used to - though I've long since given up any hope of that.

Like you I much prefer breaststroke as it's more relaxing. I was thinking of experimenting with one of those noodle things under my tummy, so I can just use my arms and let my legs float along behind me (have SPD developing so froggy-kick is out sadly).

I'm OK with the sweet tooth - but when I'm feeling queezy the one thing guaranteed to make me feel better is butter. Thick spreads of butter on toast/hot cross buns/pretzels/crumpets (reminds me that I'm actually feeling a bit hungry ... might waddle down to the shops to buy something to spread some more butter on).

I find not weighing myself helps a lot :)

LittleSugaPlum · 28/08/2012 16:20

Well i dont know why you lot are moaning .... you would be moaning if you were me! Grin

Im 33 weeks and i ve put on 3 stone 7lbs!!!!!!!!

:-(

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 28/08/2012 16:23

34 weeks and I've gained 2 stone exactly, which I'm not unhappy with tbh :)

Flisspaps · 28/08/2012 16:25

Get off the scales.

Every woman is different. You don't get routinely weighed now. Can you work out what is baby, fat, increased blood volume, placenta, amniotic fluid and water retention? No, so it's not worth worrying about unless you're really piling it on

ItsMyLastOne · 28/08/2012 16:26

When pg with DD1 I put on almost 4 stone! Blush I was 8 stone 5lb pre pregnancy.

This time I'm 26 weeks and have put on 1 stone 4lbs so far. I was 9 stone 3lb pre pregnancy this time.

VegemiteSandwich · 28/08/2012 16:29

Oh poor fluffy and littlesugaplumb - mind you I reckon I'll be exactly the same once I get to third trimester. Flisspaps is right, though. Plus a look through past/similar threads does show that everyone is different! We'll just all have to compare notes on how to get it off again later on!

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 28/08/2012 17:12

I don't see how knowing how much weight you've gained is a bad thing! I'm not upset, don't think 2st at 34 weeks is too much, and I'm not obsessing Confused

NattyCraig · 28/08/2012 17:19

I haven't weighed myself once during pregnancy, will be 31 weeks on Thursday and am still wearing some of my pre pregnancy size 8 clothes. I appear to be all bump.

but even if I do expand in other places I'm not allowing myself to obsess over it, I eat whatever I want (mostly ice-cream) and fruit as I feel guilty for all the ice-cream, I'll just try lose whatever needs losing after. As long as baby is happy I don't care how much weight I gain :)

buggyRunner · 28/08/2012 17:23

please please don't worry- you will gain what you will gain- for me both times it was 3 stone.

despite going to the gym 3-4 times a week and eating ok.

you will gain what you will gain. I measured small and had a big baby.

the weight was off in 3 weeks (bar 4 pounds)

just keep exercising if you can, breastfeed and the weight will fly off after

Emmiedarling · 28/08/2012 19:45

34 weeks - 3 stone. Started at 8 stone!

VegemiteSandwich · 28/08/2012 22:38

Sorry Fluffy, I really didn't mean anything by my comment - I didn't think before posting and went onto default sympathy mode Smile

I heard once (reputable source!) that the beat indication of post pregnancy weight is pre pregnancy weight - the nine months in between doesn't really matter.
