Don't know the specific stats, but every form of contraception has a risk of pregnancy, eg 1-5%, even sterilisation.

How long have you had it? If it was recently implanted you could have fallen pregnant before the implant? Did they do a pregnancy test before going ahead? If you're at the end of the 3 years and have been getting more regular bleeding it may be failing... Can you actually feel it in your arms? I've heard of cases where the hcp has not implanted properly!! Otherwise.... Although it's a tiny, tiny possibilty with the implant... No contraceptive is 100% reliable... How are you doing?

There was a news recently about the Implanon implant. In some cases it wasn't be fitted correctly and thus led to pregnancy. I'm sure the details will be online if you Google.

Is this your first baby? How are you feeling about being pregnant?

This has worried me slightly. I had my DD in May and had the implant fitted in July. I've had it in once before and was great but this one just hasn't felt right since I've had it put in. We're using condoms as well as extra lubrication (sorry TMI I know) so not a chance I could fall pregnant but just worried its not on right.....

Have you told DP/DH the news?

Flosie Don't panic, as long as you can feel it under the skin it's fine. The problem is if they're accidentally not inserted, the HCP might not check it's come out of the device (or it's fallen out and they've not noticed) or think that the 'bump' of the local anaesthetic is the implant immediately after they've done it.

Sarajane How are you feeling about things today? Have you seen your GP yet?

Ah thanks kelbells that's put my mind at rest!
