Read about this app today (some magazine) and i downloaded it and tried it out right away. You use your iphone as a doppler and listen with headphones (it's not a real "doppler" - the app use the microphone to "filter & amplify baby's heart beat sound").

it took us awhile to find the heartbeat and it does not sound as clear as a real doppler, but it definitely worked and made us happy :-).

We even recorded the heartbeat and post on facebook. it's so cool!!!!

Think I'll save my money :-)

ThreeWheelsGood · 27/08/2012 20:42

This seems like a bad idea, it'll worry people unnecessarily if they can't find the heartbeat.

GlitterPinkRubberDucky · 28/08/2012 13:19

Think it's a bad idea as well as it could cause a lot of unnecessary worry or those who can't find the heartbeat.

Yes I dont think its real either.

SoupDragon · 28/08/2012 13:25

What you hear is unlikely to be your own baby's heartbeat.

milkyjo · 28/08/2012 13:32

I tried with a stethoscope and it was hard enough - all I could find was the umbilical cord with my pulse. Dopplers are expensive medical devices so I doubt an iphone app would be able to give similar results. However, it is probably only a bit of fun. My friend used it on her dog!

Londonmrss · 28/08/2012 13:43

Sounds ludicrous.

This OP sounds like a marketing plug... Hmm

I don't think this would work, and using home devices/dopplers are advised against as they can cause false reassurance when used by people who don't know what they are doing.
