Raspberry leaf tea

I know lots of folk don't like it, but what does it actually taste like?

Also, I was going to start next week at 32 weeks. I've heard it is a uterine tonic so should make stage two of labour easier, rather than bringing labour on. Is this about the right time?

I'll ask my MW on Wednesday when I see her, but wondered if anyone has thoughts/opinions?

Generally advice is around 34 weeks, I started at 32 weeks but only 1 weak cup a day at that stage, gradually increased the further along I got.

It tastes vaguely like green tea, I actually really liked it - bit of an unusual taste, I wasn't convinced at first but after a week or so and deciding it made a change from decaf coffee it really grew on me :)

To me, it tasted like any other fruit tea. It was okay. I started it at 32 weeks but then had DD at 37 weeks, so will probably leave it a bit later this time. Obviously have no idea if it made any difference to how early I went into labour, but this time round I have a professional exam 11 days before my due date and I MUST keep my legs crossed til it's done! I started on 1cup a day from 32weeks, 2 cups a day from 34 weeks, 3 from 36 and then 4 from 38 and it deffo helps with the second stage - my beautiful 10lb 11oz lo took about 15 mins to push out with the most intense contractions ever! X

I started yesterday (34 and a bit weeks) but I've bought the Holland & Barrett capsules as I didn't fancy the drink, and I had heard you've have to drink gallons of the tea a day to get more than a placebo effect.

NeedlesCuties · 27/08/2012 09:30

I didn't really like it.

One thing I did which made it slightly nicer was:-

Make it as normal with boiled water, let it cool down in fridge, add ice cubes, maybe add a bit of dilute juice and then drink it :)

It tasted disgusting so I switched to the capsules however it made no difference to labour whatsoever, waste of time.

I always made it with sugar, tasted like warm ribena iirc hth

I'm taking the capsules from H&B. Started at 34 weeks with 2 a day, then increased to 4 a day. Now at 36 weeks taking 6 a day until splash down (planning a HWB Grin)

Do the capsules have the same effect as the tea? So one capsule = 1 cup of tea?
I am on the capsules too

Notgrownupinmyhead · 27/08/2012 10:33

Im on the capsules too 6 a day but built up from 2 a day plus 4 evening primrose oil.

I havent tried the tea but took the capsules last time and felt it really helped me push DS2 out.
