When did you feel your baby move and kick?

And did it get earlier with subsequent pregnancies?

I am 17+ with dc4 and haven't felt any movements yet.

I think I was about 18 weeks before I felt the others kick for the first time so I'm not worried but my midwife last week (or the week before I can't remember!) seemed surprised that I couldn't feel anything especially as he or she seemed to be very active when she used the doppler.

Does size matter when it comes to feeling movements? I'm a size 14.

I think I was about 20 weeks-ish.

18 weeks - felt a couple of taps and flutters during day - but thought it was my imagination / wishful thinking. Knew for sure the following week when hormones caused me to burst into full-on sobbing and I felt absolute whirrings in my stomach whilst sobbing eyes out.

Maybe your placenta is at the front - I've heard that'll prevent you from feeling movement.

MrsPaynie · 25/08/2012 14:46

My first pregnancy it was around 23 weeks. With my second it was a lot sooner, around the 12 week point I felt the first flutters. Then with number three I started to feel them move around 15 weeks

Can't remember dd1/2 but dd3 was about 15 weeks and dc4 I'm pretty sure moved yesterday at 11 weeks.

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 25/08/2012 14:50

Oh and I'm pretty over weight Blush

Ask the MW if the placenta is at the front but it could just be that you don't have as much time to notice!

DS1: 15 weeks
DS2: 22 weeks

DD1, pretty late, about 25wks. This pg was 15wks.

BuntyCollocks · 25/08/2012 15:23

Dc1 - 16 weeks - posterior placenta
Dc2 - 20 weeks - anterior placenta

PeshwariNaan · 25/08/2012 17:36

This is my 1st pregnancy and it really started this week - I'm 19 weeks. I'd felt a couple of random things since about 17 wks, but nothing definite.

I felt number two move ridiculously early and DH could feel him move from the outside early too. Weight, placenta position and the slackness of your uterus charming eh? all play a part.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but could you guys answer a worry of mine?

I'm 15+3 with my first baby and over the past few days I thought I could feel something. It was faint, admittedly, but I was reasonably sure it was the baby. Thing is, it has now stopped. I haven't felt it all yesterday or this morning. Is that normal? Should I be worried? I couldn't sleep last night.

BuntyCollocks · 26/08/2012 10:48

witchity - it probably was baby, but it is so small at the moment, and so many places to hide, that you should expect sporadic movements. At the moment, you may go a day without feeling anything. They settle into a pattern around week 26 I believe, and my hospital recommends kick counts from week 28.

Bunty, thanks so much for your reply. I feel a bit calmer now. Smile
