Can I go out if signed off work with HG?

Maybe I'm just being paranoid but here goes.....I was discharged from hospital yesterday after suffering from
dehydration from Hyperemesis. Doctor signed me off work for another week from yesterday, we have a wedding tonight and as I'm feeling better (just tired but also bored as been stuck in for ages) would I be breaking some sort of rules by going?

It's only for a few hours and not like I'm going to be drinking but I just feel weird about doing it - I've never been signed off sick before!

My job is quite complex and I have to make some tough decisions and the doctor felt that at the moment I needed a bit more recovery time

Silly question I know but thanks for any replies!

I have HG too, it's bloody awful isn't it?

I think legally you can go but personally I wouldn't if I were you. I found the vomiting was much worse if I did too much. And by, 'do too much' I mean stay awake late, move around too much, didn't eat enough, couldn't rest immediately etc.

I'm 35 weeks now and as I'm self employed I never took any time of work so it might be different for you if you are well rested? But unless the wedding is for someone really important is it worth taking the chance it might set you back a bit?

I have HG too, I would say go if you feel well-rested enough and it's not too stressful a journey to get there. Maybe plan to stay an hour and extend that if you feel up to it? Seems like a shame to miss your friends' big day, and if it was just for an hour you could maybe justify it to work easier (if they found out..)

Of course you can, if you want to and feel well enough. You have been signed off as unfit to work - you are not under house arrest. Take things easy, keep up with your medication if relevant, and have plenty of fluids.

You can be well enough to attend a function while not well enough to go to work. ( I do know of someone who was 'told off' at work for being seen out drinking in pubs while signed off after an operation - nothing happened, she was in a physical job but not allowed to lift, but was well enough to socialise)

Because of the meds im on I haven't been sick since Thursday lunchtime, it's only around 15 mins away and we will be back by 11. Physically I'm ok it's just I'm a scaredy cat and don't want to get into trouble!
