I found out i was pregnant 4 weeks ago, just after a promotion at work! unexpected both job and baby! i have been on Prozac for well over a year for depression and mood swings. My GP took me off straight away from a high dose to nothing, im really struggling at the mo to get through a day without shouting, crying, panicking or just feeling low. not sure if its hormones (1st pregnancy) or if its my depression. Tried to get a doctors appointment for the past 2 weeks but the receptionist make me feel like its not serious enough to be an emergency appointment, haven't heard from a MW yet as only just over 8 weeks. any advice as i am scared and dont know what to do. SORRY ITS LONG!

Hello - it is urgent. Phone again first thing in the morning. You would never normally come off Prozac suddenly and I'm not surprised you feel dreadful. You'll probably be doubting whether your feeling so bad is important yourself (as depressed people do) but I really think you need to see a doctor as soon as possible. Good luck x

I think low dose citilopram is ok to take in pregnancy so possibly doc could put you on that unless you can't have ssri's. I'd request a referral to a perinatal psychiatric nurse and/or psychiatrist to see you through pregnancy and beyond. I have one (bipolar and ED) and they are great. I'm lucky that I've not needed much contact but have 2 mobile numbers to call whenever I feel I might need help. There are services and support out there but my experience is you have to ask rather than be offered.

Think sertraline ok in pg too? Can't believe your gp just stopped your meds without putting something else in place, so bad!

I'd request a referral to community mental health team for support? I have pnd and they have been brilliant, don't know where I'd be without them.
