I'm 18 weeks pregnant and wondering when I might feel the first movements of my baby. What do they feel like? Im really looking forward to those first movements?

Shouldn't be long .... you may not notice them at first as you may mistake it for hunger pains or trapped wind ( i think i did !) I felt really small ones at about 20weeks and from them on just more and more! It is very exciting ...and only you will feel them at first ...that's a special moment between you and your baby but equally exciting when you can share with your partner /anyone else you want to share them with. Probably happen when you least expect it too ...but more obvious when you are relaxed .

I felt mine around 20 weeks but very faint because my placenta is at the front so the movements are cushioned. It does feel like trapped winds to start with (not butterfly for me!), so it is hard to be sure. I now feel my baby everyday and I love it, it is the best feeling in the world!

Hi I'm pg with DC3 and felt this one from 16.5 weeks. I think I felt DD1 from about 20weeks though. With all 3pg's I've always felt my first movements when I've been lying in bed. To me they have all felt like gentle nudges, but quite distinctive from trapped wind/ digestive tract rumblings. I love it!

I felt mine around 18 weeks - faintly and then my partner managed to feel them about 20 weeks.

And now at 36 weeks - he hardly stops moving Smile. its very comforting once you start feeling the movements.

Saw it move at 17 weeks, felt it move around 19/20 weeks.

i only started feeling movement last week! im 21+5ish now, some are later than others.. trust me- when your little bean is kicking as much as mine does youll wonder how you ever doubted your instincts of 'was that it?!'

Badgerina · 24/08/2012 09:57

18-20 weeks first time round, 14 weeks this time Smile Felt like popcorn popping at first Grin

Flosie1989 · 24/08/2012 10:02

I felt my DD move at 19 weeks and it felt like a little tap inside! Was very cute! Soon enough he or she will be doing little Mexican waves and sticking its bum out at you or it's foot! Lovely times Smile

About 16 weeks for me. I used to feel it most when I was sat quietly in the car, right down in my pelvis. It felt a bit like wind to start with - now I just get booted!

If your placenta is at the front it'll take longer for you to feel.

CakeBump · 24/08/2012 10:17

I was 18 and a bit weeks.

A friend said she lay on the bed, on her own and really concentrated in the quietness to see if she could feel anything - and she did! I did the same, and I did too!

From then on it just got stronger and stronger and DH felt it first at around 20 weeks.

jaylee89 · 24/08/2012 10:34

im 28+5 here and felt misses move for first time around 13 weeks as sonographer said she has very strong legs which now is very uncomfortable as she likes kicking in my "foof" (shes breech atm) and likes to plonk her head right under my ribs.DH felt her and seen her move for first time around 21 weeks ish.

with DD1 i didnt feel her until around 16 weeks good knows my children will be rugby players when they are older with the strong legs they have lol

I'm 15+6 and just felt the Grublet yesterday! It was amazing - and very distinct. Like a soft little thunking. It was several minutes after I sat down from being on my feet for 4+ hours.

PeshwariNaan · 24/08/2012 11:08

I'm 19 wks and just starting to feel definite little pops very low down, like a muscle spasm but in the uterus area. I've felt various things starting a couple of weeks ago but nothing so definite. Then again it's inconsistent and I only feel them 1-2 times a day depending on the day.

LadyMaryCrawley · 24/08/2012 11:22

Last night! (or rather, early this morning). I was lying in bed awake wondering if it was wind, but decided it felt too odd to be that. It felt like bubbles popping very softly. I am nearly 17 weeks, but the books say it can be anything from 16-20 weeks.

milkyjo · 24/08/2012 11:31

About 17 weeks with DS. Felt exactly the same as I do now at 10 weeks but in this case it is gas moving around (tmi?), sort of little bubbles popping. Then they just get stronger and stronger until at 30+ weeks your LO is pushing his bum into your ribs so hard you cannot breathe/ kicking your sore liver/ using your bladder as a trampoline. Also think of scene from Alien! No really it's wonderful!

Doretaball · 24/08/2012 21:44

Mine was after my 20 week scan both times. Got so fed up of people asking if I could feel movements and having to say no! But once mine started moving, they didn't stop. My fave bit of pregnancy by far.
