Best drink for acid indigestion?

I know this has been done before, but I can't find it.

I'm really funny with drinks. Not keen on plain water, don't like tea, a bit off dilute juices but could drink if I'm desperate.

This acid is just doing my head in, and I don't drink anywhere near enough.

Milk :-)

Gavascon

milk - definitely - I was drinking gallons on the stuff when I was pregnant with DS - I kept a glass by my bed at night too.

Half a glass of soda water topped up with milk. Sipped

Seriously - MIL recommended this to me and it worked.

In fact, knowing we had no milk in the house one day I stopped at our local pub after work and ordered it - the bar maid knew exactly what I wanted and why. It must be a local thing.

It depends on the person. Milk can make it worse as it increases the amount of stomach acid. I suffer with reflux all the time not just in preg and if its bad then plain water really is the only thing that helps (tap not bottle)

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 23/08/2012 12:03

Really? Soda and milk? Is that not disgusting?

I agree about the tap water but I'm struggling to drink it. Lots of things just make me gag. I could try sticking some in the freezer for a bit. That might help.

Ice cream. MIL is a retired nurse and recommended it. Lidl do a particularly nice choc-ice-on-a-stick type affair with almonds :o

It's keeping me sane so far (25+6)

Greige · 23/08/2012 13:06

Its not the best tasting, but think of it as medicine. I don't even like milk, but I was desperate and would have tried anything.

OneOfMyTurnsComingOn · 23/08/2012 13:08

Not sure I could do it if it's not that nice.

Do like ice cream though. DP buys it quite a bit Smile

Gaviscon or failing that milk.
