Hi to cut a long story very short I am pregnant due to having had major surgery on my spine/hips recently I was advised to not go ahead with the pregnancy due to risks to my
Health. Anyway I am going ahead I thought I was about 6 weeks from scan last week but I had one this morning and they thought I was over 8 weeks. Everything looks fine so far thank goodness but does anyone know how accurate these scans are? I have to go for another in 2 weeks.

Ha, had to giggle at this... 'I'm pregnant due to having surgery on my spine'. I was just wondering what the surgeon did to you??? ;-)

Anyway, early scans are based on measurement of bubs-mine was 3 days out which we know because I had IVF so we know the exact date of conception!

Is it possible you could have your dates wrong? Bearing in mind how long sperm can survive after ejaculation etc

From what I remember it's 5 days either way in terms of accuracy.

Congratulations!

Had a scan today and I was measuring 12+5 even though I know I'm exactly 12 weeks due to IVF. Sonographer said the scans are only accurate to a week either side. HtH.

Hi, had a scan with my little boy and they were 2wks and 3 days out!!! I was very worried because I thought he wasn't growing properly. I then had another scan a week later and I was told the "correct" wk+days.

I was also told they were only accurate oplus or minus 5 days. But sorry to ask a.stupid question, were you counting weeks.from your last period or when you got pregnant as medically they count from your period. This puts you at 2 weeks pregnant when you conceive.
