Gender Scans

I have booked a private sexing scan in about three weeks (I will be 19 weeks by then) because our NHS trust won't tell you at the 20 week scan.

I'm really excited to find out, but I'm a little worried that they might get it wrong!

Anyone else finding out the gender?

I found out with DC1 at 20 weeks- a boy (now 17 months) Grin

I found out with DC2 at 20 weeks- another boy (now 34+1 weeks pregnant)

Both scans were at Barnet General Hospital :)

We paid for a scan at 16 weeks as I couldnt wait till 20 weeks and when she put the scanner on my belly she put if straight inbetween his legs and I said its a boy then and she laughed and said he sure is and he was, lol!!

With a girl you looking for a burger cut in half - sort of 3 lines like the bread, burger then bread agin and woth a boy its like a snail, lol!

All depends on the position the baby's in. My SIL wasn't able to find out as her LO had her (as it turned out!) hands covering her bits!

My DD however helpfully did a lovely Sharon Stone/Basic Instinct style flash at the scan so they were pretty certain she was a girl!

I've been told if you get told it's a boy that's almost certain to be correct but sometimes if they tell you it's a girl, it can occasionally turn out to be incorrect as they missed or couldn't see the boys willy Grin

Congratulations btw Smile

Ha love the explanations zoeymlucas ! I didnt find out with our DD 4 months old. We decided to keep it as a surprise plus everyone had great fun placing bets! I'd probably find out next time though to know what it's like both ways!

DS was a surprise but we found out at 19 weeks with this one (and double-checked at 28 weeks!). I'm glad we found out but if there is a next time we won't tell anyone that we're finding out and have it just between ourselves :)

I had a private scan at 12 weeks at which they were able to give me a 70% guesstimate. I will get confirmation at 22 week scan (for some reason the private scan is at 22 not 20 weeks....??? Anyone know why?)

Given it is possible to find out, I haven't the will power to leave it as a surprise!

I went for a gender scan on Sunday (22 weeks) because I couldn't quite believe the sonographer at my 20 week scan. Anyway it was a lovely experience and it turns out the 1st sonographer was right after all and dc3 will be dd1!

Ilovecake1 · 22/08/2012 20:12

I was told we were having a boy at 11weeks 5 days!!! I really couldn't believe it!! My husband asked if she could see and she said "yes your having a boy". He is now 6.

Rachel130690 · 22/08/2012 20:12

Where I'm from there's loads of signs saying not to ask. I asked anyways and was told I'm expecting a boy, I'm 38 plus 2 and I've had 4 scans in total so far and at everyone of them I've been told its quite the boy. Legs always spread. So no worries here :)
