I was at midwife this morning and only noticed once i'd left that my bp was 133/82. Nothing was said about it to me but am i right in saying its too high? Quite a jump since my last appt 4 weeks ago.

I'm assuming that if she thought it was an issue she would have said something to you.

Are you medically trained yourself?

Try to not worry, that'll only make the bp higher!

Yes i suppose you are right.

I believe medically blood pressure is classed as high if it's 140/90 or higher. In my last pregnancy 2 years ago the MW told me it's normal for your bp to increase a bit in pregnancy. As a guide, she said they referred if the top number increases by more than 20, or the bottom number by more than 10, but I'm sure I've read recently they don't use that gauge any more. Did she test your urine too?

If she was worried, I'm sure she would have said so. How many weeks are you? In my last trimester I found the effort of just moving to the couch to have my bp taken caused it to increase, so I had to sit still for a good 10 minutes before they took it.

(I ended up with severe pre-eclampsia at 33 weeks with a bp of approx. 200/115 though, so probably not the best person to comment, sorry!)

My urine was fine so no immediate issues. I am 24 weeks hopefully its a bit lower again at my next appointment. Thanks

133/82 isn't high. Mine went up to 180/115 at 16 weeks and I was hospitalised until I was on the right level of medication to keep it down. You can be assured that midwives are very much on the ball for raised blood pressure as they are aware of the risks, so if they had any concerns they would have taken further action. Try not to worry!
