Hi All
I am only 5 weeks pregnant but I appear to be constantly starving. Is this normal? Is ot just in my (over active!) Head?!xx

I was ravenous too! When about 5/6 weeks pregnant with dc1 got my lunch out (big box of pasta salad) at 10am coffee break at work. Ate it really fast, then realised I was attracting attention and someone piped up, 'do you think you might be pregnant'? Obvious didn't want to announce anything that early and made an excuse that I had missed dinner the night before! After that I hid in the loo with whatever I desperately needed to eat. I had morning sickness at the same time so it all felt a bit weird!

It's normal. You are building a whole second person and. Tot blood supply is increasing to cope right now and that takes lots and lots of energy. Your body craves all those calories for a good reason so have what you want.

It settles down as you reach 12-14 weeks (a bit)

Thanks, I don't feel as bad now :) I had somethibg to eat at 10pm before bed and I woke up at 3am (partner being restless!) When I woke up I was once again starving! I'll just ride it out! Xxx

Eat up now - chances are you'll be nauseated and losing your appetite soon...!

I ate for Wales in the first 9-10 weeks. I've already put on a stone and most of that was during that period. I'm not exactly cutting back now either, at 15 weeks!

sophiad · 22/08/2012 09:44

I'm 8 weeks had a bacon roll for breakfast in work today! A bowl of Fruit and Fibre just wouldn't do it. I've been so hungry also.....scared about how big I'm going to get if I carry on! (blush)

I had this too and it's completely normal. I only decided to do a test after wolfing down a chinese followed straight away by a bacon butty and realising that wasn't normal. It seems to have eased off now I'm 14wks but I found that if I didn't eat when I got hungry the nausea would start x

I kept waking up at 2am feeling starving. I had to eat a biscuit as quietly as possible but it's amazing how loud it sounds in the dead of night...

This is one of those things nobody tells you before you're pregnant.

It's not that women make an excuse about 'eating for two'. it's that you will be bloody starving all the time!

Just try and fill up on things other than crisps and chocolate in the earlier weeks otherwise you will end up putting on stones and stones in weight by the end.

It's pretty common to develop sugar cravings later on in pregnancy, I've eaten our reginal supply of chocolate from about 28/30 wks onwards in all 3 pregnancies.
