Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice. My daughter is 29 weeks pregnant with my grandson, she had to have a scan last week and it was found that the amniotic fluid was quite low and that the baby was measuring around 25 weeks. She had to have steriod injections to help mature the babies lungs and has to go for another scan on Tuesday and then for another one next week. She was also put on a monitor to trace the babies heartbeat and it was fine as was the blood flow to the baby. I have been reading quite a lot of things on the net about this an i am really worried. The midwife said that the worse case scenario would be an early delivery.

Has anyone else had any experience of this? Any words of reasurrance would be much appreciated, Thanks,

Tracey.

a friend of mine had this - she ended up going to term almost - think she was a week off. They just kept monitoring her - she had to have regular scans to check that all was well with the babe. Her little baby was born with no problems - think she ended up having a c-section - not sure as I had my dd2 at the same time and some details are fuzzy. He is a strapping gorgeous boy.

Just wanted to add my friend had her dd at 26 weeks and she is absolutely fine. Was a hard few months at the start but no probs now.

Wishing your daughter luck x

You're always going to find lots of things in the internet that scare you. Unfortunately without the medical knowledge to sort these things out, you don't know which ones apply to your DD and which don't. :) Of course, he first thing we all do is to google a few medical terms when we're told something like this!

The baby's heartbeat and the bloodflow were fine at the scan/monitoring session and your DD will be monitored closely from here on. I assume they'll check next week to see how much the baby has grown and make more plans then. He could just be a small baby who is growing OK of course.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to reply, its very reassuring to hear that other people have been through the same thing and that its been ok. I have been given tomorrow morning off my work so that i can be with my DD when she goes for her scan. I am really hoping that there is some improvement in the babies growth and maybe an increase in the amount of fluid. I need to be there for my DD and to reassure her but i am very worried and so scared that something will go wrong. Thanks again and i will keep you updated,

Tracey.
