Has anyone else suffered with mozzie bites? I have dozens all over me, most concerning there are loads over my groin area (sorry if TMI). Do I need to worry that they do anything to the baby? I'm 17 weeks. Cheers

I feel your (burning, itching) pain!!! So sick of my legs being one throbbing red itchy lump Sad

My legs have been covered in bites for the last three weeks. It's so frustrating not being able to take / put on any treatment. The pharmacist could only advise calamine cream. This helps a bit but today I was going insane with the itching so went to the local walk in centre. They gave me antibiotics to try and bring down the infection.

There was no mention that there would be any problem with the baby (I'm 12 weeks) being affected by the reaction I'm having but everyone is concerned that the conventional treatments (antihistamine etc) would be a problem.

The nurse said this is a bad year for severe reactions, apparently it happens every 4-5 years where there's an epidemic of bad reactions to insect bites then it calms down for a few years. Very odd!

The main thing that has helped is a ice cold wet flannel to bring down the burning, just have to keep rinsing it in cold water. I sometimes use a bag of frozen veg but this doesn't seem to work as well. It's just difficult to keep on 'flannelling' when I'm busy at work so the heat builds up until I want to scream!

I might get a Witch stick tomorrow and see if that helps.

I hope yours calms down soon, I would really suggest getting some medical advice, I wish I had done sooner.

Thanks Nikatron. It has gone down now and someone else told me it's a bad year for mozzies. Thanks for the tips I'll be trying the cold flannel later. I'm trying not to scratch but sometimes you just have to! Hope yours gets better soon too x
