Having a sweep tonight and getting worked up :(

Due today and still no signs, at the midwife tonight who said with my consent will give me a sweep, I do need it as been suffering with awful pelvic and hip pain, baby keeps trapping nerves and I cannot walk, not going out of the house for 6 weeks apart from midwife appointments is really depressing!
Feeling really upset about it though and sick at the thought of actually having done, really fed up today and very snappy and grumpy :(

Have you ever had one on a previous dc? Don't know how they are for everyone else but my sweep was pretty quick and didn't feel uncomfortable,
I was 10days over so if I didn't have the sweep I would of had to have been induced!

It's weird as I did have one with dc2 in 2010 and the next day went into labour, it didnt really hurt I just feel different this time and upset and fed up at having to go! Confused

You sound like you've had a pretty crappy pregnancy to be fair, maybe get dh to have a go?
If not then just have a relaxing bath try and get some rest and hopeful you'll be feeling better tomorrow and ready to get your little dc out to meet you

Oh sorry just realised you're having it tonight :( hope it goes ok for you

Well! Had the sweep which was fine and midwife said I was already 3cm and my cervix is as thin as it can get! Felt his head and forewaters and was very surprised I hadent really felt any contractions, I have been but not regular enough to do anything, she seemed to think he would be here very soon and gave us instructions on what to do if he was born at home!! Said that when he does come its going to be quick so if I feel the need the push dont attempt the hospital just ring an ambulance and do it at home! Hmm

3cm!! You're on your way! Have you gone in yet? Come back and let us know. Good luck Miaboo

Blimey 3cm and not feeling no contractions Smile, hope you have your bundle of joy soon Thanks

Pascha · 22/08/2012 14:30

My sweep last time showed me to be 3cm and nearly fully effaced. I had not had any contractions, first contraction 9 hours later, DS born 7 hours after that. Here's hoping she has a beautiful baby by now.

Grin Good luck

If you're feeling more than normally grumpy and snappish you're probably about to pop. Well known imminent labour symptom!

Good luck.

Still at home waiting! contractions still very irregular and feeling very frustrated now! Midwife seemed really excited and thought it would be last night but did say she would be very surprised if I was still pregnant Thursday.
My 2nd baby was only a 2 hour labour, no waters breaking, no show just wam! straight into intense contractions, got to the hospital at 3pm born at 4pm so theres still hope that this could progress just as fast :)
At least I know that things are moving in the right direction and that she said she gave me a really good sweep so surely its got to be soon Hmm

Could you bring yourself to have sex?? Assuming you have a willing participant to hand! Could just do the trick.

Or maybe just walk up and down the stairs. I've heard that can get things going.

AGiraffeOnTheDivingBoard · 23/08/2012 15:47

So? How's it going? Grin No need to tell us if you followed Fruit advice and had a shag but let us know about the rest!

lalaloopylou · 23/08/2012 19:26

Any sign of your little bundle of joy yet ?
Make sure you come back and share you story fellow mothers are the only people who ever want to hear birth stories! Crazy!
Thanks

Hi Guys
HE'S HERE!!! :) :)
He arrived Yesterday after 21 minutes at the hospital!! Got there at 11.40 born at 12.01pm! Was 8cm when I arrived and hadent really had any major pains until 11ish, good job I followed the midwifes advice and got there as soon as poss.
His shoulders got stuck so midwifes had to pull him Shock
He was 8lb 2oz and I got away with no stitches and just a gas and air birth!
We got home tonight and so far settling well although still have backache as all contractions were all in my back and very painful and my legs are very sore as midwifes pulling them so much!! and very in shock from a 21 minute labour :)
