I have booked in for a 4D scan in a few weeks which will make me 29 weeks. I am worrying about my weight, my BMI was 29 when i conceived so my midwife gave me the ''benefit of the doubt regarding my weight''.....
Anyway i have obviously gained a few pounds cough cough will this affect my scan pictures/quality? I am a bit sensitive regarding my weight and tbh don't want to be completely embarrassed when i get there.....:-(

I have no idea but why not ring them? Surely embarressment on the phone is better than face to face?! p s ignore spellings/poor grammar no sleep

Yes, it would affect the scan quality because there is more tissue for the sound waves to get through before reaching the baby. That doesn't mean it isn't worth having one though, they're your pictures of your baby, the fact that the woman scanned before you might get slightly better definition in the images isnt relevant really, that's a bit like saying no one should run unless they're at least as fast as Usain Bolt.

It's lovely to see the movement and 3d imaging and you'll definitely get all of that in your scan. Relax and enjoy it.

My BMI was 28 and I'm a size 14. We had absolutely no problems with our 4d scan whatsoever, in fact, our pics are some of the clearest I have seen. Try not to worry - unless your weight has impacted on view in normal 2d scans, there is absolutely no reason for it to be a problem in a 3d scan

Mines 30, no problems what so ever with any of the 4d scans I've had

I have a BMI MUCH more than yours and my 4d scan was amazing. We had cd made and sonographer showed us heart and all vital bits. Was amazing. I think that when you go private for something like this they take more time and care to ensure you get what you want x

My BMI was much higher than that when I had my 4D scan for dd. The whole experience was fantastic and I was very happy with my pictures and dvd.

What a load of bollocks.

I had a 4D scan with a higher BMI and the pictures are so clear they look like photos I took of my son last week in sepia (he's 2).
