I have just had a phonecall from my best mate to say she's 8 weeks pregnant. This really span me out because... I am also 8 weeks (today in fact)! She's due 30th March and I'm 1st April. How weird?!!

I am absolutely over the moon for her and her hubby as they've been trying since getting married in Dec, and think it will be the most amazing experience ever going through the same experiences with someone so close.

However, I can't help but think if something went wrong for either of us (heaven forbid) it would be so hard for the other person. I know it's silly to think negatively but as it's such early days for both of us there is a chance.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I've got 4 kids and with 3 of them I was pregnant at the same time as my sisters and my sil with either days or just a couple of weeks between due dates. It's absolutely brilliant being pregnant at the same time as someone you are close to, it makes the bond even closer.

The odds are everything will be fine, worrying in the early days is completely normal so don't stress to much. Have a brilliant 7 months of sharing this special time x

Congrats!

Last year, after almost a year of a good friend and me both trying to get pregnant, I fell pregnant but unfortunately had a miscarriage. Staright after this she got pregnant and had a miscarriage (miserable bit of the story over with there - phew!)

But then at the end of last year she got pregnant again. I was delighted for her but obviously a little bit of me wished it was both us so we could go through everything together. But lo and behold at the start of this year I got pregnant again too. She has had her LO now and I've got 6 or so weeks to go and it's been great going through it all together.

Try not to worry about any potential bad news - it happens, but more often than not it doesn't.

Hope you really enjoy sharing your pregnancies with each other, it really does help. Smile

Hey, I am currently in exactly the same situation. My best friend of 20 years is also pregnant, granted i am 25 weeks and she is 9.
I know how you feel though, my friend had bleeding at 6 weeks or so and she was really shaken up by it (everything was fine) but as i've had a pretty straightforward pregnancy...touch wood (so far) it was quite hard to reassure her. Saying that just think positive and i am a firm believer in fate! x

I just can't believe it really. It's both our first baby, we're more or less same age (I'm 26, she's 25) and we both have husbands in the forces (me RAF, her Marines). We've always said we had a special bond but this just takes the biscuit!

Thanks for your words of reassurance, I think we'll both be like this until the 12 week scan. Her bump is huge compared to mine though (she's normally 2 sizes smaller than me too), so she may be further on than she thinks, or expecting twins as she has lots in her family.

What a happy, surreal day!! Grin

Paddocks1 Nice to hear from someone in the same boat. It's funny you say about fate as that has always been a little saying between us. Strong believers in fate!

Hi Lucky I have had a similar experience and sadly it did end in the way that you've described as your fears. I carried on with my healthy pregnancy (31 weeks today) and my friend lost hers quite early. But, she was very much of the attitude 'what happens, happens' and she was and still is very happy for me. I know its hard for her and I find it hard sometimes too but she's a strong person, very caring and is looking forward to our baby as much as we are. I wish you both perfect and wonderfully uneventful pregnancies xx

Paddocks1 · 20/08/2012 15:04

We have said we always do everything together..so why not this! lol we are both 25 too. Exciting times!

LuckyOwl28 · 20/08/2012 15:32

sammyleh That's so sad about your friend, I hope she gets pregnant again soon! I think that is the attitude we would both have if it came down to it, I just really hope and pray it doesn't come to that!
Best wishes to you with your remaining weeks! xx

My little sister is 3 weeks less pregnant than me. She's 28 and it's her 3rd, I'm 30 and it's my second so we've watched each other go through pregnancy before, she was amazing when I had my first. We're both enjoying having someone to talk to about all the ups/downs/bizarre bits of pregnancy and I'm excited my DS2 will have a cousin so close in age.
