I'm 36 weeks pregnant and over the last few days I have developed a rash across my bump and chest. Its now started to spread a little to my neck.
It's red and bumpy and really really itchy - a bit like a heat rash.

I dont know if this is pregnancy related or perhaps an allergic reaction to something but just wondered if anyone else has experience of this and what can I o about it?

The itchiness is driving me crazy and it also looks very unsightly!
Being so pregnant I have enough on my mind without having to deal with this annoyance!! Sad

Any help / advice, much appreciated, thank you!!

Definitely definitely get it checked out (obstetric cholestasis).

However, I had a very similar rash with DD1 and whilst no-one could pinpoint a cause or cure I found smothering my bump in calendula cream, and cool baths with camomile teabags in helped immensely!! Weird but true!
I even slept in the bath when it was really bad Grin

Thanks.

I just rang the Midwife who said its very common in pregnancy and nothing to worry about. It could be PUPP - caused by the skin stretching and/or hormone changes.

OC which you mention tends not to have a rash with it and is more about itchiness on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet (which I dont have). Also, with OC you will probably generally feel unwell and have a lack of appetite and maybe jaundice, again none of which I have.

Having googled it it does seem that PUPP is the most likely thing which is annoying but harmless and temporary (thank goodness!!).

I've also got this, went to GP who sent me off to hospital to be monitored and have my bloods checked, although I also had reduced movement for a few days so not sure if she would have sent me if I'd just had the rash. My hands also itch loads due to eczema so there is no real way of knowing if I have that symptom of OC or not IYSWIM.

I was advised it was probably heat rash and was given a prescription for camomile lotion and piriton. I have also used an ice pack at night to relief the irritation.
