Just wondering if there's anyone out there who's an expecting service wife?
My husband is in the RAF, and having only just moved to the area and started a new job my pregnancy means I won't qualify for stat mat pay. Also may be a chance of hubby being away throughout pregnancy.
Would be great to hear from anyone in similar positions?

Hi Lucky Smile I'm an army wife based out in Germany. My husband is away just now and due to get back when I'm about 32 weeks (I'm 25 weeks now) this is DC3 and he has missed both previous pregnancies due to tours or other army commitments, not ideal but he has always made it back for the birth so I can't complain too much. There are 6 of us wives pregnant from my husbands unit over the next few months and I'm the only one due after the lads get home. Really feel for the girls out here that will have to do it without them

Hi, I'm an army wife and also serving myself in Germany. Husband is currently on exercise for 2 months (one of many this year alone). I'm currently pregnant with my first child and kind of feeling like i'm going threw it alone at no fault of my husbands. Originally he was meant to be on exercise in Kenya right up to my due date but thankfully the unit have though about what they are doing and are not sending him (huge relief!!!!!), however i understand that he will be away most of next year getting ready to deploy.

I think its a great idea to get together with other wives from the unit and do coffee mornings etc so you can get a great support network/ friends for when husband is away.

Once I've had my 12 week scan I may venture out and try to find a group on the base for other pregnant wives, will definitely be handy to meet people in similar positions.

MrsPaynie That's such a shame that the other wives won't have their partner there for the birth, I can't imagine going through it without mine, especially with our first. Need someone to throttle! lol

oceanblossom I bet it is a huge relief for you! I know it's all part and parcel of the forces but it is such a shame when it comes to huge things like having a baby

Oceanblossom we had the same worry about DH going to Kenya over my due date, luckily he isn't being sent on that one now. I'm wondering if maybe we are posted same area, though I know a lot of the lads out here are away on exercise at the moment with the possibility of Kenya when they get back.
I don't get to many coffee mornings here, though I do go to the playgroup with my toddler quite often so that's quite good for meeting people. See if your local camp run a bumps to babies group too, great way to meet mums who might be due around the same time as you so can offer support if your DH does have to go away
