Hi everyone,

Pls can you tell me if it is safe for me to dye my hair in pregnancy? I can't afford to get it highlighted so will have to use a DIY kit from boots.

Thanks

Char x

Yes it's fine :)

You might want to do a patch test, even if its a dye you normally use without a problem, as your skin can become more sensitive than usual and you may have a reaction.

Cool, thank you. Fingers crossed my hair doesn't go a dodgy orange colour.

I bleached then went brown during last pg. Was told its fine as long as you don't have cuts to your scalp. Hope the hair dye goes well x

I'm working on a campaign with work called 'No Test No Tint' - Making it national known the effects of hair dye if you don't perform a patch test. Please follow the link to the survey and its 3 short questions - Click answers. I would be very grateful if you would all take part. Theres no name details or anything like that. It is purely for Market Research www.surveymonkey.com/s/7YCF6P3

I'm a hairdresser and hormones can make your dye react differently so ALWAYS do a patch test!!! Better safe than sorry, also when it comes to safe for baby there's not enough to prove or dispel anything so that will have to be a personal choice! (I will be colouring mine!)

You patch test by applying a bit of colour behind your ear of the crease of your elbow and wait 24-48hrs should be no redness, itching or blistering
