Hemorrhage and Brown Spotting

Hi All

I am 10 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing some very light brown spotting over the last few days, I managed to get my doctor to send me for a scan and they confirmed that I have a hemorrhage measuring 3.5cm x 1.5cm x 3.5cm. The nurse told me not to worry about the brown bleeding and to only come back if it turns red, she didn't seem to worried and said to wait until my 13 week scan.

Since coming back from the hospital and reading up on it on the internet I have become a bit more worried about it - does anyone have any experience?
The only info online is from ladies who have had lots of red blood with theirs

Hi, i'm afraid i have no experience of this but didn't want to leave your post unanswered at such a worrying time. 3 weeks time must feel like years away right now especially as info online can be really contradictory and frustrating. did the midwife give any indication of the risks or what might have caused the hemorrhage?

i really hope it turms out ok for you, i will be thinking of you. sorry i haven't got any actual advice to offer :(

xx

My daughter had a large haematoma next to the baby in the womb, it caused a big bleed at 7 weeks and spotting until about 12, it gradually re-absorbed, the baby was fine, hope this is of help to you.

Sorry for brief reply but one handed typing on phone whilst bf-ing.

I had a massive heavy red bleed at about 11 weeks, and a couple of weeks of brown bleeding. Turns out it was due to large haematoma. Can't remember exact size but think it was something like 9 cm x 9 cm x 3 cm

All was fine and DS now 5 days old.

Hope all goes well for you.

Hi. I had brown spotting at 6 weeks and went for a scan where they saw a heartbeat and also a haematoma. I was told it would either bleed out or reabsorb. There can be a small chance of miscarriage but my consultant said that she had seen hundreds of these over the years and 99 percent of them cause no problems and disappear. The stats she gave me were no way near what you would find on google. I had another scan at 7 weeks and it was still there. I had no further spotting and at nine weeks it had almost dissolved and at 12 week scan it had completely disappeared. They really are very common. Also don't worry if it hasn't gone by your 12 week scan. A few people messaged me to say theirs finally went by their 20 week scan. Good luck!

Picklesarnie - Congratulations on the birth of your baby. You very kindly messaged me re my post on haematomas and you said then you were 35 weeks. Really happy for you. And you were right - my haematoma disappeared by 12 weeks! Enjoy every minute with your new baby.

That's fab news sw11, here's to a really uneventful rest of your previous pregnancy. The rest of my pregnancy was completely normal and had lovely homebirth - baby blissfully unaware of all the earlier stress!

That's wonderful news. I'm really happy for you. Can't wait to get to that stage - seems like such a long way away!!! X

Not sure where the word "previous" came from in my earlier post. I blame lack of sleep!

sw11mumofone · 19/08/2012 17:00

Yeah I'm not sure how I managed to post my message twice and I don't have a newborn to blame it on!!!!!

Hi All

Just wanted to update on this thread rather than leave it open, went for my 13 week scan today and the haemorrhage has completely gone and baby is fine.

Hopefully this is some comfort to anyone going through the same thing
