Hi everyone,

This is my first post, and it's at 3am because I'm confused and can't sleep!
I wonder if any of you have ever heard of this happening, and what was the outcome? Will try to summarize...

  1. I'm (hopefully still) 8 weeks pregnant with my first. Had brown light spotting for two weeks, didn't think it was anything to worry about.

  2. Had red bleeding Sunday. Went to EPAU where on call consultant kindly did a TV scan. Showed a very normal healthy foetus with a strong heartbeat! Went home overjoyed and reassured, and booked in for follow up scan 10 days later.

  3. Woke up next morning to much heavier bleeding. Went to EPAU as advised. Said they couldn't do scan (understandable, didn't want false hope) but also said it seemed I was miscarrying. Told me what to expect and sent me home with lots of sympathy.

  4. Have really heavy bleeding with clots and cramps next few days, fiance (who's been brill) and I come to terms with what's happening. I ring EPAU to see if I still need a follow up scan.

  5. EPAU ask me to come in immediately for check up. Dr. gives me internal exam, and says my cervix is closed, and all looks fine. She could see no signs of miscarriage! She was genuinely stumped at why I was (and still am albeit less) bleeding, and said my bloods were normal too.

I'm being treated as a threatened miscarriage and have to go back Weds to know for sure. But I can't see how anyone can bleed so much and still be pregnant. Dare I get my hopes up? Thanks for reading if you got this far :)

Hi didnt want to read and leave especially at 3am. The unfortunate answer in my experience is it could go either way. I have had this twice and miscarried. I also had it with my most recent pregnancy which resulted in a perfectly healthy 9lb 3oz baby who is my current reason to be awake at 3am!

I didn't think it was possible to keep him, but i did, they never found a reason, possibly something to do with placenta development but. Not sure.
Get some rest, freaking out wont help (easier said than done I know)

I have everything crossed for you, good luck x

Thanks for replying snozcumber, I really appreciate it. Sorry you've experienced similar, the waiting is so hard! I hope I'm awake at this time for the same reason as you one day! Hope you get some sleep too :)

Thanks mumnosGOLDisbest for sharing. I shouldn't get my hopes up but I do feel calmer hearing positive stories. It's weird because yesterday I was so certain I'd miscarried and accepted it. Completely thrown now! Oh well, I must try and sleep...

Hi.

In my experience it can go either way. Last year in October, I bled loads for a day and went to the doctor confused that I had just experienced a massive period not knowing I was actually pregnant. A week later, I bled again but ended up losing the baby.

This year, at 8 weeks again, I bled but no reason was ever found and am now 31 weeks into the pregnancy.

Hope it ain't the worse for you but bear it mind that sometimes these things happen for no reason. Hugs
