Worrying 20 week scan. Advice needed!

Hi, I need a bit of advice for my sister. We're both pg & due a week apart! My sister with dc3 & me with dc2!
My sister went for her 20 week scan today. It lasted about half an hour. She was told that they were finding it difficult to get a good look at the baby & said that they would send her a new app for about 2 weeks time.
They also said they were worried about the baby's heart & kidneys & enquired whether or not she'd had an amnio.
They also wouldn't give her a picture.
She's now v worried & considering a private scan.
Any words of reassurance or advice??
Thanks x

Your poor sis, how worrying. Sorry I don't have any advice to give save that yes I would book a private scan. I didn't have any private ones with DC1 but did with DC2 and was impressed by how much more checks and details they looked at in the private one (obv the NHS just can't afford to spend that much time hence have a shorter check list they go through). Plus the equipment was clearly newer hence the view and measurements were sharper. Hopefully they will be able to reassure your sis or at least give more certainty about things.

Good luck.

I'm really upset for her that they left it hanging like that without giving her full information as to what the potential issues were. I can't help other than to recommend going for a private scan. The Spire Alexandra near Chatham is fantastic if she is anywhere near there.

Thanks everyone!
She's going to speak to her midwife tomorrow & ask her for some reassurance & a reason why they're leaving it two weeks.
She's still upset but definitely more positive.
Xx
