It's just started to dawn on me that tomorrow is potentially my last day of pregnancy! And I'm more then a little bit petrified of being induced! Everyone has such horror stories to tell about their induction experience is it really that bad!? Is your waters being broke early a cause for more painful contractions!? Ahhhh!!

I would say that it can take time which I dicn't expect, I had first gel thing on thd tur and didn't have my dd until thd fri!! I expected thd same with ds had gel at about 3pm had him at 7.44pm!!

I didn't find it hurt when my waters were broken but I went on the drop and it was like going from 0-60mph do have a good chat/think about if you would have an epidural. I didn't want to and by the time I got one it was almost all over. Good luck, it does hurt a lot but Crikers it is worth it!!

Ive been induced twice and both were opposites! One I had 3 pessaries and the drip and after 3 days he was out! Then the other time I had 1 pessary and he was born a few hours later!

Babies I think get too snug inside Wink

You'll have pain relief if you need it and always expect the unexpected! You'll be fine and just think by the end if the week you'll have a new small person! Its so exciting, Im going all gooey over everyone having babies (im due another in 3 weeks).

Good luck!!!!!!!!! Smile

I feel the same as being induced on Sunday at 39 wks!! I'm preparing for the long haul in case, although there are some positive stories out here too so stay positive and GL!! :)

I think I was more scared second time as I knew what to expect yet it was totally different, quicker, no pain relief but it doesn't HAVE to be terrible. Just take books/iPhone in case it takes a while, it will be worth the wait x

Thank you everyone! I think i feel a bit like a lamb to the slaughter as I know when and how it's happening to a certain extent my other two labours were spontaneous, and I keep thinking istanbul painful enough without gel or waters being broke making it worse

Hello - try not to take notice of the horror stories (why do women do it to each other??)

I've been induced twice 1st time induced (gel pessaries, waters broken at 4pm) no discomfort till 8pm, had epidural at 11pm at 8cm, DD born at 1am. Quite uneventful and very relaxed. TBH I think i had the epidural out of panic as I was scared due to all the horror stories!

2nd time, took 2 days to induce me as they had to deliver baby early. I decided early on I wouldn't have any drugs, and didn't. took 1.5 hrs once going - having waters broken didn't hurt, just uncomfortable. Great experience both times. You just have to go with it and try to relax (hard i know) I think my second time was great due to the Hypnobirthing method I did.

Good luck and congrats:)

Its not that bad! Just stay as mobile as you can. Dont let them lie you on a bed all day, it closes up your cervix (I lay down though and still did it but I have learned since then) And its do-able without epidural too! I did and I have the pain threshold of a very very hurty thing.

You can do it :)

Notgrownupinmyhead · 16/08/2012 18:16

You can do it!! I had both good and bad and will probably be induced again in 5 weeks if he doesnt come in the next 3 so it cant be that bad if we have more than 1.

I agree with the other poster - keep mobile, it helps loads. Grin
