I think I am over the worst of my early nausea now but it was horrible when in the thick of it. I know lots of people have suffered much worse than I but anyway.

When I was feeling particularly ill, my uncle said to me "flipflop, MS is mind over matter". I was Shock to say the least!

What's the most inappropriate thing someone has said to you when pg?

I had hyperemesis and was having a long term affair with the toilet bowl...it was awful. My nan sent me a newspaper article about how Fanny Blankers Koen (sp?) had won a medal in the Olympic Sprint when pregnant. You know, to inspire me.

NellyBluth · 14/08/2012 21:26

Ginger. Fucking ginger. I had hyperemesis, if one more person had said 'have you tried ginger biscuits?' after I had admitted I was throwing up 8 times a day, I could seriously have brained them with the nearest blunt instrument...

I also hated it when other women tried to sympathise by talking about how they felt nauseous in the morning for a few weeks. That one I'll admit was entirely irrational as they were just trying to empathise a bit.

I had awful skin in the 1st and 2nd TM and someone said 'elvis, what's wrong with your face?!' in a shocked and horrified manner. I nearly burst out crying!

Chunkychicken · 14/08/2012 22:06

Not quite the same, but my older female & often ever-so slightly inappropriate colleague told me that the reason I could feel my baby move so much was because DD 'had already stretched things so there is more room in there'.Hmm I mean, I know you tend to show earlier because your stomach muscles have been stretched already, but seriously, doesn't your uterus go back to a "normal" size??!! Confused

Not got any pearls of wisdom about

Chunkychicken · 14/08/2012 22:06

MS, as fortunately I had it quite mildly.

The pharmacist who dispensed my Cyclizine told me that I should try not to take too many and try some ginger biscuits.

I was too busy trying not to be sick on his counter to even bother arguing.

I have a simple reply for men like yor uncle OP...'No vagina, no opinion!'

It usually works!

Not when I was pregnant but shortly after my DS was born my MiL told me it was my fault he had hiccups because I was drinking coke. You know, because it makes your milk fizzy...!!

She's a nurse Hmm
